Howdy ya'll
I have been assigned to write an article about tea parties for children. If anyone out there has any ideas or simple recipes that I could use I would be very grateful.

Hi Lt. Mac - interesting topic. I've checked out some websites as well, and some of them offer great ideas, recipes, themes, etc. I've had the opportunity to host several teas at my Bed & Breakfast, some including children. My best recommendation is to keep it short, sweet, and simple.
One thing that has been neglected on these sights is the attention span of kids! Keep them busy, keep them occupied, or they'll be running from the table ASAP! Speaking from experience!:o
They do love dressing up, 'tho, with feather boas, gloves, hats, beads, etc. -that is really fun and makes for great photos.
I've also found that kids aren't that experimental when it comes to the food. Simple things like PB & J sandwiches cut with cookie cutters, with a strawberry fan on top for a garnish, can be presented prettily, and there's a strong chance they'll eat it! As long as it looks good, and is presented elegantly, they'll think they are being treated like queens!
Actually, there are plastic punch cups and plates, now available that although plastic, they look like crystal. That is a thought as well, if you want to protect your best china and glassware.
Good luck!

My experiences match waltersv's: short and sweet, and no glass. Invite their teddies. too, and provide dress-up stuff for them, as well. A cousin just got back from American Girl Place and those were the guidelines they followed.
