We are delighted to be able to launch 'Adrian's Baby Blog'.

The blog will be personally updated by Adrian, giving him the opportunity to jot down his thoughts and feelings as each new day brings fresh challenges before, during and after the arrival!

The blog is very much a diary rather than an 'interactive' blog as the forum is here for discussion.

If it's been a struggle to decide on the baby's room color, what will it take to ger her named? :D

What a wonderful idea!!:D
Thank you,Adrian and Alex for being so generous to share your experiences ,emotions and the cute little stories that are due to take place with us!!!!!!!

And itīs really a big deal to find the right colour-kids are more peceptive and learn faster and easier surrounded bycertain colours than by others. It depends on the child .BTW,that is true for every person, for most it is white, but we had a seminary about this and made some tests-for some persons itīs green, for some itīs yellow....;)

I think he knows a fair bit about pain already, but it's a whole 'nother party to see someone you love in pain, isn't it?

Yes you are right, Cool. There can have been whatever many injuries you suffered, it much more hurts, when you see a loved one in pain.
I was lucky and honoured to join my little daughter, giving her child birth. It was painful, to see her suffering, but as a women and mother of four you know exactly the progression of the birth and you know, how long it will take, that the newborn life will be inher mothers arms. It was such a wonderful moment, I will never forget; and I was allowed to cut the umbilical cord: that memory brings even today (after almost 4 years) tears into my eyes.
Blessed are we with our children, aren't we?

Im with you folks. My daughter and son in law also honored me by allowing this old lady to be a part of her first grandchild's birth:D
Although, my daughter had a relatively quick and easy time, there was still worry and angst on my part for their safety and comfort. However, when the pain did become sharp, I always reminded/defocused their thoughts on the lovely, blessed babe that was soon to join them and that the pain that would stop.

Look to the Lord and await His blessings!

Really cute!

Rotties are, from what I read, good with kids. I think any dog, if properly prepared, can be a good dog with a new arrival. I have 4 of differing breeds. one evan a terrier cross, and with time and training, we have had no problem with any of them around my grandson.:)

Which are the top three breeds most likely to nip/bite a child?"

Some searching on the web provided these sites:

A Healthy Me (provided by Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Mass.)
http://www.ahealthyme.com/topic/infantsdogs

which advises:

"Any dog is capable of biting, although a particular dog's behavior has a lot to do with his training and how he was raised -- not just his breed. Still, several breeds of dogs seem to be unusually likely to bite people. Experts advise not letting your baby or child near a pit bull. "

and

"Whether he's a lab or a Chihuahua, you need to pay close attention to the animal himself. If he acts aggressive, or if he has bitten people in the past, you don't want him near your baby."

There's more to read. All seems sensible, including how to prepare dog for arrival of new baby.

Then there is the For The Love Of The Dog Blog
http://fortheloveofthedogblog.com/news-updates/the-most-aggressive-dog-breeds-dachshund-1

which sites information from a study conducted by the University of Pennsylvania: "Seems the smallest dogs ranked the highest when it came to human aggression, the top three being the Dachshund, then the Chihuahua and third, the Jack Russell Terrier.

These are the findings recently published by the journal of Applied Animal Behavior Science."

Again, more to read, but includes know your animal and never leave alone with baby.

The conclusions seem to be about the same as for trusting humans: temperment, training, health and other pertinent surrounding circumstances.

Very cool!! Sometimes all the gifts before hand is the best part. Try to get organized now because when the little one gets here, organization is out the window.

I don't know about anyone else, but I found it pretty cool that all of us got mentioned in his "thank you". I will say that my first name was spelled wrong, but, that's ok; no one ever gets it right.:D:D

Your very welcome Adrian and Alex!
I find it very rewarding not only to give to you who has given so much to us and others, but also to come together with folks who have met here and whom I consider to be some of my "best buds":D

May God bless you, Alex and the wee lass, with His health, joy and PEACE.

Much thanks from us to Victoria for all her help in setting this up and for choosing excellent gifts on our behalf!:D

Thanks to Victoria for choosing such nice gifts. It's not everyone who is good at choosing the right gift.

Am glad that Adrian and Alex liked them.

You are very welcome Alexandra and Adrian! It's good to have the chance to show our sympathy for you and our pleasure for you as parents to be. I think I'm speaking for all of us, that we all are very courious, how the wee lass will look alike (sp?), will be named, will sound ..... (if you will bring the Baby to the next con!?:))

I wish you, Adrian and Alex, Budino and the little girl to come all the best and a very happy New Year full of joy and love and peace.

To all the wonderful people here on the board I'll just say, that I'm very happy to be here and know you all.
Love and big hugs and all the best energies and thoughts to you all for 2010!:)

I wasn't sure where to put this, but Minnie* mustn't be named any of the following:

1 Emma
2 Emily
3 Madison
4 Isabella
5 Ava
6 Sophia
7 Kaitlyn
8 Hannah
9 Hailey
10 Olivia
11 Sarah
12 Abigail
13 Madeline
14 Lily
15 Kaylee
16 Ella
17 Riley
18 Brianna
19 Alyssa
20 Samantha

All very pretty names, but they are the 20 most popular girls names in the US from 2000 to 2009. Minnie is not a cliche!

*a girl needs something more feminine than "Mini Me," doncha think?

I thought of that name too but I think it is too close to Adrian's name. Since both their names begin with an A, I have a feeling they will give the baby a name that begins with A too.

I guess its a habit. Both my daughter and son carry one of both my husband and my name. Whether a combo of our first or middle names---that way they never get lost!--lol;)
Hey--if they do name the wee lass with an A--since my husbands and his 3 sisters and both parents begin with A and their ranch is the 6A ranch--she, Adrian and Alex could be honorary Texas cowboy ranchers!

Aackkkkkkkkk!! Is he ever in for a BIG surprise--hehe;)

He and Alex will be just fine. The love of a parent for their child often makes up for lack of experience. When a parent constantly puts the welfare and wants and needs of that wee bairn first---good things happen.

I can see already that the wee lass will have a "dada" shaped ring around her wee finger!!:D

The classes are a help, I think. Even more helpful is having had a lot of dogs - you can't be squeemish about poop if you have dogs at home, and you get lots of practice in reading someone who can't use words to express itself.

Nothing does really prepare you for new parenthood. It's one of those *hands on* experiences that you learn along with the baby. Most parents and babies survive it and have alot of fun after the initial shock LOL
