I just got the news today that one of my son's (Jacob) classmates was in a severe car crash. She was thrown from the car through the window last night. She is in a coma and not expected to live through the night. So if you could keep her in your prayers and thoughts we would appreciate it very much! My heart goes out to her and her family. If she does make it Hannah could be paralyzed for the rest of her life. We seem to be losing a lot of our young people to car fatalities. I wish they would just be more careful.:(:(

PEACE AND LOVE,
Kellie

Hi everyone,
Sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday but I'm fighting a cold right now.
Up date on Hannah Lee's progress: The night before last we were informed by Jacobs friend on "My Space" that she will pull through! We don't know whether or not if she will be paralyzed because of her injuries to her back and neck.:( Hannah is in high school almost ready to graduate, I hope she recovers. At any rate she has a lot of physical therapy to look forward to, it will not be easy for her or her parents. Thank You for all your warm wishes.
:)
PEACE AND LOVE,
Kellie

Michell, (our neighbors daughter came over to use the computer) told me that Hannah has now turned for the worse. We now don't know for sure about her condition. All of us are pulling for her and she is in our prayers.:(:(

Hi Everyone!

Sorry I haven't got back to you on her progress because I have been sick myself the past 3 weeks. I want to say that Hannah Lee will recover! She will be moved out of ICU in a couple days and on to physical therapy. So the hard part is yet to come for her. :( Encouragement and strength of heart are going to be her best medicine now. Thank you for your support and prayers, Hannah will still need them as she goes through this difficult time.

PEACE AND LOVE:)
Kellie

Great news! I'm so glad!

Oh, maybe she needs a lap top so she can have folks to talk to while her buddies are all in school. How old is she? We'll have to find her some good sites.

:(I'm back after my own hospital stay starting on Feb 18 via 911 due to antibiotic reaction almost stopped breathing but they got there in time. Got out Wed 24, sore, a bruised pin cushion! They stuck me so many times I thought I would leak! Good news from my doc though, my lungs are clear and I have lost 38lbs since Sep of last yr! (my appt next day) I have Asthma that can put me out of commission for months at a time. So I can really feel for Hannah about her rehab she is going through! It happens to me every time I have a long hospital stay. The funny part was when I arrived at the hospital, I was out of danger so my sense of humor had returned. The ambulance pulled up and there were 3 ambulances parked in the ER entrance blocking the way silly!:p The paramedics couldn't get me in, they tried one side didn't fit! Other side didn't fit! Finally they had to go between by kicking a door shut and pushing the mirror in! I was beginning to think I was transported by Laural and Hardy!:D Hey you have to keep a sense of humor! I never know when this is going to happen to me. Either from Asthma attack or a reaction from a drug my doc has given me. If this happens next time I will have my new phone with full internet so I can keep in contact with my friends on the forum. I was board, all I could think about was my 3 kids, how they were doing, my poor 20yr old dealing with his 8yr old sister, 4yr old brother and the headaches they were giving him!:( When I got out and rested as much as I could I resumed putting Christopher's 4th birthday hotwheel bike together thankful I could see them again. This is the 6th time I've had this happen with an antibiotic and each time severe and life threatening! I'm just allergic to all manners of drugs, my body doesn't react well to new drugs. It's frightening each time! So God doesn't want me yet, I'm still alive and kicking!

About Hannah, she is home and doing well from what my son Jacob says. She is progressing with her rehab, can walk, so she isn't paralyzed thank God! I hope this keeps up for her and she can fully recover from this!

PEACE TO ALL,
Kellie

Praise God for both of you!
Miracles do happen and you two are living proof!:)

We will continue to pray for Hannah's recovery and for your health.

Do you not keep an eppie pen at home for allergic reactions? I do.
Praise God I haven't had to use it yet but it can be a life saver. I get mine from my dr but, I think, you can now get them at the pharmacy w/out a script?????

The ambulance snaffu sounds just like 3 stooges--lol Good thing you were already stable--Ackkk! Could you imagine the laughter at the court hearing??

I was just about to ask the same thing: where is your Epi Pen? Here's the site to read about them: http://www.epipen.com/

When I was a little girl my dad taught us all how to give injections so that we could use the syringe he'd loaded with epinephrine for my mother. (It was stored in the butter compartment in the fridge. :D ) We never needed it, but it was a huge relief to get an Epi Pen because it would have been so much easier to use.

Good to hear that Hannah is doing well. I hope she mends completely.

Does your doctor stand by with a dose of epinephrine when he gives you an antibiotic???

I know an Epi Pen would be what you would normally use. In my case no, when a person has Asthma your heart rate is extremely high during an attack. If I would have done that my heart would have stopped due to acute tacycardia (fast heart rate) it was already above 160. I took a benedryl right before I called 911 and kept my lungs open with my emergency breathing meds and tried to stay calm as possible. In answer to what my doc does when I try a new drug I'm given benedryl 30min before to stay off a reaction. Thats why I was in the hospital longer she wanted to see how I did on my new antibiotic before I went home. I'm doing great now so I hope this keeps up for a while.:D
An Epi (epinephrine) is a cardiac stimulant, it is not used as much for Asthma patients any more because of the effect on the heart. I do have one on hand for insect stings but again I can just take the benedryl and call 911 because after an Epi injection you have to go to the hospital anyways. During an attack I'm fighting so hard for air and adrenalin is already pumping through my body at such a fast rate so my heart pumps faster as I'm working to breathe, at that point a stimulant would be deadly. I've had Asthma sense the age of 11 so I've studied my disease all this time and I know my body well. I sense changes in how I feel and I know the symptoms of anaphylactic shock (a persons body just goes all out of control and you start to close up within seconds). Sometimes people out grow it or just have it under control. Mine is just about as bad as it can get and still be able to get around by myself. I have a very good doctor that works with me, so I can keep my Asthma under control as much as possible. Thanks for your caring and your prayers.:)

More about Hannah, Michelle one of my son Jacob's school mates saw her at school so Hannah continues to do well! Praise God!:D

PEACE AND LOVE,

Kellie :)

Praise God for Hannah's miracle! May He continue to hold her in His strength and healing.

I wasn't aware of the elevated heart rate that comes with an asthma attack! Learn new things everyday. Do you always have an asthma attack along with an allergic reaction? I could see that happening when having anaphylactic shock and every thing constricts. Tho the epi would open up the airway and the lungs it would increase the already elevated heart rate to, perhaps, fatal levels.
WOW--what a catch 22!:(
Have you ever worked with an allergist to see if they could isolate and treat the trigger for your allergies?

My cousin had asthma most of his young years and still does to a degree now. I guess he was fortunate that his mom would not give him shots herself. So when he had an attack, she would rush him to the hospital at onset and he never had the epi shot.

Im very glad to hear that you are feeling better now. May God bless you with good health and wrap you in His healing, my friend.:)

I have asthma, and I think I'd better look into this!

peace, when you said, "Do you always have an asthma attack along with an allergic reaction?" did you mean irish specifically or asthmatic people generally? (I don't, you see; in fact because I have reactive airway disease, I can have the asthma attack without an allergen - lucky me, eh?)

No, I to have serious allergies but not with asthma. I was wondering, since Kellie related that she cannot use epi due to the rapid heart rate that her asthma brings on, if she always had asthma with allergy attacks.

I also wondered if she had ever tried to work with an allergist to pinpoint her allergies and take the shots to build the resistance to the allergy. I was fortunate enough to be able to do that and have not had a serious attack in 20yrs.

I do have close friend who had allergic reactions to antibiotics given in shot or IV form until her allergist figured out it wasn't the med itself but the suspended solution it was mixed in that she was allergic to!

I also have just strait Asthma without allergic problems involved that alone have caused me to call 911 and have resulted in being admitted to the hospital.:( I have tried to do allergy shots when I was 16, I would get an Asthma attack 30 min after getting a shot so that was out. I've developed over the years of having Asthma, allergies to antibiotics and Asthma patients should not take aspirin and Ibu profen because these meds alone can cause attacks. Asthma can cause changes in lungs depending on how severe a person has the disease. Now just being Irish coolwater, I don't think is a factor, it's more your family genes, and sometimes airway problems can skip a generation. As I stated before about Asthma, the heart rate increases as the attack worsens because a person is working so hard to breathe. The adrinalin races through your body, also breathing meds like abuteral will increase the pulse to a point where I can hear my heart beat in my ears!:( Appeace and coolwater, all Asthma is the same in that the airways are constricted causing the wheezing sound you hear, but each person will have different triggers and ways their Asthma is unique to them. Always remember the most important thing to do is to stay as calm as possible and not to panic. The best thing you can do is have a doctor that works with you and is knowledgeable about Asthma, airways, and also important your heart. Cardiac function is just as important to an Asthmatic as pulmonary. When I was in Colorado I went to National Jewish Hospital to see Dr. Langmack for 11 years. I miss that relationship because she knew me inside and out. It is the leading Pulmonary and Cardiac Hospital in the US. If you have any major questions regarding Asthma either call their lung line or go online: www.nationaljewish.org/ - National Jewish Medical and Research Center. They have saved my life so many times I can't count. My doctor now is very good and works with me on all my health related issues. Weight is also a factor, I have lost 38lbs since Sep of last year and this makes my breathing easier and puts less work on my heart during an attack. I am doing well right now and getting stronger each day. Thank you for all your prayers and well wishes for me.:D

I want to update all of you on Hannah Lee. She is doing well, improving daily on her rehab, but still having trouble with her speech from the accident. Her mother however is in the hospital with cancer, she is responding now to the chemotherapy(she wasn't before) so I hope she beats this. This family has had enough happen to them so I pray to God that her mother beats this.

PEACE AND LOVE ALL OF YOU,
Kellie:)
