It is getting close now. I am so excited about this Convention. How fantastic is it going to be to see Elizabeth Gracen and Jim Byrnes at this Con. I have never met these two Highlander actors but l so admire them.
Jim has the most brillaint voice to sit back and listen to for hours. And the best thing is to actually be able to listen to him live on the Saturday night. Oh this is going to be a trip to remember.
Not to mention the chance of getting to see the beautiful Elizabeth Gracen in person. I have been told she is very tall, so l suppose l will find out soon enough.
What is going to be the highlight for you? What guest are you looking forward to meeting the most? and why?
Lets have a chat before we all meet up in the very near future :)

Really looking forward to Adrian being there (of course ;))and also very excited about David Abramowitz. Anyone who has ever met him will tell you that DAvid is just the nicest guy you'll ever meet.
Also, interested in meeting Elizabeth Gracen. She's from Arkansas and I lived in that state for almost 20 years. My mom moved to Booneville, Arkansas 10 years ago which coincidentally is the place Elizabeth was born. Small world.

Hi, Aarongray. It is less than three months now, isn't it? That's hard to believe when you've been planning a trip for over a year. I'm so looking forward to this con.
I had the priviledge of meeting Jim Byrnes and David Abramowitz at the PWFC Memphis con last October. The first meeting was at the guest meet and greet, but as the days went by, we really got to know how great these guys, along with Valentine Pelka, were. We went on group tours and a dinner cruise with David and Val. And, Jim gave a concert on that Saturday night that will forever be with me. This man is so talented, and his singing touches the edges of your soul.
When we danced the last dance on the dinner cruise, David was right there with us, and I can truly say he is a great sport and a kind man. And, one of my fondest memories of Val is riding back to the hotel after the cruise on the bus. He was supposed to sit up front, but didn't, mischeviously walking all the way to the back and sitting there, surrounded by happy people..:). He told jokes and made us laugh, and later entertained everyone in the bar. There were some very happy fans who finally crawled into their beds in the wee hours of the morning..lol.
I went to the LA walkabout that Elizabeth attended, and had two occasions to talk with her. She was very nice, though I don't recall her being so very tall. I'm only 5'2" and she didn't seem that much taller than me.
I'm just looking forward to seeing all the guests, and the friends I've made at the other cons...waves at Valoise..remember when we all stood at the bow of the paddle boat, with the wind whipping through us, and cried out, "no, we're not freezing, not at all." I was the one with the southern accent. Hope to see you in Vancouver.

That cruise was so wonderful and is definitely filed under 'great memories.' I know there will be lots to add to that file in Vancouver.

I hope so, Renate. Making memories at these cons is something you never forget. Maybe you'll get to go to one soon, and I'll see you there. :) And, as Valoise said, these are great memories..once in a lifetime. Hope you get a chance to share soon.

I had the pleasure of seeing Jim at the Celebration convention in Anaheim about 12 years ago. It was one of those rare times when everyone was there except Amanda who was in the Caribbean. They did an interview with her with remotely. Jim and Roger Daltry performed several songs. It was amazing. And of course, the auction with AP and Roger was way to entertaining.
I's really looking forward to Vancouver also. I have not been back to one since The Celebration.
Peace.....Donna

Oh my goodness, Donna, twelve years. I bet you are ready for another con. ;) I've never really been to a big HLWW con. I went to their walkabout in L.A., and PWFC's Memphis Road Trip, but I've never attended one of their large cons. I'm so looking forward to it. I still need to book my flight, but the room is taken care of. My roommates and I will have a harbour view. Isn't that excellent? From the photos on the web I've seen, Vancouver is a beautiful city. One of my roomies is my roomie from the Memphis con, and we had a grand time exploring that city. Beale Street at midnight was a totally undescribable experience. The sultry river air, the flashing lights and the low, throbbing pulse of the music flowing from the blues clubs seemed to soak into your very being. You couldn't help but have fun. :)
Hope to see you in Vancouver.

I am really looking forward to it also. I'm planning on extending my stay until Wednesday so I can see the "sights" after the con. My daughter just got back from a week there. She was with a friend that had a walk on part for Stargate Atlantis. She said it is really beautiful BUT it rained most of the time. She really loved Hadley Castle (were Lex Luther lives in Smallville) and they took the train to Whistler which is where the Winter Olympics will be in 2010. She loved the train and they would slow down or stop to take pictures.
It will be fun meeting people and being able to put faces to names.
Peace........Donna

That sounds like fun, Donna, and it will give you some time to enjoy the city. I'll be coming in on Thursday and leaving the morning after the con. I wish I could stay longer, but my work schedule won't permit it.
Is Hadley Castle open for tours to the public? I'd love to see it if it is. I adore castles, though I've yet to see a real one. Some day..:)

Hi destiny....
Yes, Hatley Castle is open to the public. When my daughter was thee a couple of weeks ago, they were setting up for a wedding. The pictures of the grounds that she took were amazing.
Here is a link that will take to their site. www.hatleycastle.com
I'm looking forward to it also.

Thanks, Donna. Maybe my roomies and I will have a chance to visit Hatley Castle Friday before any of the con festivities start. I'm sure we'll be exploring Vancouver that day. :)

Hi Everyone,
Emails have been sent out to all preferred seating holders for HLWW8. If you
do not receive an email within the next 24 hours please contact me at
victoria@hlww8. com.
Can l also suggest that anyone going to the Vancouver con who has not
purchased a ticket for the Saturday night concert please have a good think
about this, these concerts are always events that you will talk about for
years to come and not to be missed. Some of the acts that have been
performed at earlier Cons are Peter and Lizzie singing, Adrian doing a kata,
a skit performed by Adrian, Peter, David and Richard Ridings, not to mention
the mime by Adrian last year that was just brilliant. And not to forget the
times when Jim Byrnes has sung a few songs
Ask friends that have been to these before and l am sure they would tell you
not to miss out on what will be a GREAT night to remember.

Vancouver is one of my favorite cities in North America and even better since it's in Canada. Stanley Park is amazing, the people of Vancouver are outstanding, and it has a couple of my favorite hotels (Hotel Le Soleil & Listel).
This sounds like a lot of fun. I wish I was going.

Fi, that's just how I felt before HLWW7 except I was traveling in the opposite direction from North America to the UK. It will be fun. I remember that I felt like I had a grin plastered on my face the whole time in Leeds.
Heck, I met Highlander fans in an airport layover before I even got to Britain, one of them John Bierly who was the president of Adrian's fan club at the time. What a great guy. Set the tone for the whole weekend.
