This time last year, us Brits were in the middle of a heat wave, this year however, its payback with a vengence. For every one day of sunshine we get 5 days of rain rain and yet more rain. I dont know whether to grow gills or build an ark!
Almost everyday this week I have had to take a change of clothes to work. But that said other parts of the UK have had it much worse. Hailstones as big as 10 pence pieces, thunder, lighting, flashfloods, when is it all going to end I ask.
What happened to the warming in the global sense?
What's it like in your part of the world?

Ditto for Houston. In the last 40 days, there have only been 7 or 8 when there was no rain somewhere in Houston. Lucky for us, we are in an area where there has been no flooding; other parts have no been so lucky. Even at that, this year (for the months of June and July) has only been 9th on the list of most rain days.
Sure am ready for the monsoon to pass us by for a while.

Ugh!!! Texas has been a nightmare the last few weeks!!! The Dallas/Fort Worth area had 14 straight days of rain a couple of weeks ago. Lots of flooding! It's pretty much gone from DFW, but now, as Reta said above me, it's in the Houston area where my family lives. Of course now it's just hot (95 degrees or so) and humid. I'm dreading August. Hope you dry out soon Scooby :)

Here in California, we are in the worst draught. Our average here in Southern California is suppose to be about 14" for the year. I think we are at 5" for this last year. Our biggest fear is for forrest fires. We have already been have having what they call "red flag" days, which is high temp, low humidity, high winds. Normally it starts late September thru October. This year it started in May. I can't remember the last day that it rained
Here it's temps of 98 to 100 degrees F. We are in drought conditions. On the rare occasions when we do get rain it usually comes with a lot of lightening strikes, downed trees and power lines. Fields are full of dead crops. No relief at the nearby beaches cause most of the area on the Gulf of Mexico near us is contaminated and the closest beaches on the Atlantic coast have dead birds and fish and no one can give a straight answer as to why.:(

Hell, I'm headed out that way to visit a friend for a week or so on Tuesday and I am soooo looking forward to dry heat! It's so humid here, you feel like you need 2 showers a day and you're swimming through the air...blech! I'm used to it, growing up in Houston, but still hate it. LOL

Here in Italy its too much warm! We have about 36/41C (sorry I don't remeber how much are in F) and Florence is one of the most hot city in Italy.
I have 2 work's weeks till and then I will going to the mountain looking for fresh.
It isn't raining from 6 weeks and we are using less electric's energy in markets, banks, offices and streets. We are praying to have rain...and we hope....
Ciao,

You are very welcome to some of our rain Beatrice. Some parts of the UK had 4" yesterday, that was 2 months worth in a single day and there is more today with more forecasted for the next few days.
Its a real shame so places are flooded, railways, motorways closed and huge delays at many airports. As school finished yesterday this should be the busiest weekend of the year for folks to set off on holiday but the advice in many areas is to only travel in emergencies.:(

My Brother flies off to Zante in the morning (Sunday) thats if he can get to the airport. From where we live in the West Midlands he has to drive to Bristol Airport, usually takes about 2 hours to get there but according to the news part of the M5 has been closed due to flooding so he has to find an alternative route.

Gee Scooby I wish your brother luck. I expect it will take him longer to get to Bristol than the flight to Zante will take.
There was a guy on the TV this morning that left work in Bristol 3.30pm for what is usually a 45 minute drive home. He finally arrived at 7.00am this morning.

Its 10.45am (Sunday) now - haven't heard anything from him yet - I just hope he texts me tonight to let me know he got there safely - typical man I'll probs just get "I'm here OK" - he's not big on words. I can send him a 2 X text message long and get back "OK" LOL.

Bleh! That's not how California weather is supposed to be! LOL. But I am flying in to Fresno so maybe it's different further south. I sure as hell hope so. Thanks for the info...I just want to get tomorrow over with (the flying part). I'm not at all looking forward to it.
You guys should just fly here so you can dry out. Seems it's raing all around us but none on us. I recommend flying in through the airport in Tallahassee though instead of Hartsfeild in Atlanta. We've had 40-50% rain chances and still nothing. It's 85degrees F at night.:(

Actually, some rain here would be nice. It might cool things off for a short while. Right now, in Manitoba, Canada; we're having a heat wave. We're expecting a high of 34 C with a humidity of 49%, as of right now, with the humidex it's supposed to feel like 38 C. That was for 12:18 pm CDT. Way too hot for me. :p

All Ya'll without rain can have all that we're getting here in North Carolina. It's raining like every other day and the mold count is killing me. I'm sick of being stuffed up:(
when it's not raining it's 100 degrees and humid not helping at all

Alot of that here in Texas too, Lt Mac. However, I must say that the rain has kept the temps down. Havent broke 100 yet which is VERY unusual for this time of year. I feel for your allergies since mold and cats are my #1 problem and the constant wet then drying out is pushing the mold count into the 3000s==ACkkkkk!!!:(
