Hi Everyone,
I have opened a Reading Room to allow everyone to share their favourite stories. For all our writers out there that would like to share thier stories, poems etc. This will also be a great place for the new writers out there to ask for help and talk to the more experienced ones among us.
But please do not post long threads, put them up as attachments which will make it easier for everyone to read and also download.
I look forward to reading the many great stories to come.
If you have any questions please email me anytime :)

If you have some stories of any description you have written or enjoyed reading this is a great place to either tell us about it or post a link to your work so we can all enjoy it along with you.

I love to write but don't know if mine will ever be published. I wrote a five notebook, 5 subject each one, college ruled paper fron and back, story about five men and a girl, back when I was 23 or 24 years old. Since then I have wrote many ideas down in hopes of one day putting together a story. One of my recent ideas was about a woman who travels in time and meets her ancestor who turns out to be a magicians apprentice. He brought her to his private realm where no one else would ever dare to go unless for a challenge. It turns out to be a little humorous and silly at times and romantic at others. With lots of scene details like the colors of the place and the smells and how she feels the effects of his magic, is it real or is it him?
I haven't gotten very far into the story, but am working on it weekly because of work schedule. It reallysucks, because when I am at work I get a great idea and I cannot write it down because I am at work. Except on break which is only 15 minutes. That's not long enough because my mind goes faster than I can write, which is pretty fast, but not fast enough. So therefore, am distracted at work and don't really talk much waiting for the time to go home so I can write it all downl. Rarely do I get a chance to write it all down, because by the itme I get home, I have forgotten some of it and can't remember it all. Until I start dreaming about it, then I must get up and write it down in my journal right then. Have any of you ever had that same problem? That is my life's dream is to write a novel someday. Reading is my passion and writing is second. Cafe Vanilla Frapacinpo second also. Men come next.
Any advice? Or suggestions?
I love the way Karen Marie Moning writes her novels about the Highlanders. That is the way I wish I could write.:p

practice, practice, practice- just write -write- and rewrite the more you do it the easier it starts to flow-
it took me 7 years to write and publish my first book. 2 to write 5 to get published.

I just went to Barnes and Noble yesterday and along with my fav cafe vanilla frap with xtra shot of espresso, I bought two new books. Both by George R.R. Martin Song of Ice and Fire: The Game of Thrones and A Clash of Kings. I haven't started reading them yet as I have yet to finish my last book by Karen Moning - Dream Fever.(Just Started It). I should be done with it by tomorrow or the next day. When I begin the first book by Martin, I will let you all know hown it goes. Skimming through them they looked most excellent. Just my kind of read.
I even checked when the book Adrian is narrating is coming out but sometime in fall of 2007. I want it. Not out yet.

I am reading a new Author Monica McCarty and her books are no less about Highlanders. "Highlander Untamed and Highlander Unmasked" and the first one is really good. I am just now starting Unmasked. Yes.. they are romance novels. what can I say. I would much rather read romance than some mystery but other than those I really love Isaac Asimov's "I, Robot" about Daneel Olivall and his robot comanion who is more than just a robot. It is quite interesting how the author can get into the head of a character and make it sound like the mind of robot, in actuality. I think it is amazing to be able to write like that and in such detail. check it out.
I still haven't started the Martin books yet, as I am in a "mood to read romance" right now, and can't seem to get away from it. I still need to begin reading my Star Wars novels to catch up with the latest in the series "Legacy of the Force"....
I seem to find I jump back and forth between romance and scifi. I can't seem to get enough of either yet I must do one or the other. I wish I could see a movie of the ones I am reading, but then they wouldn't be the same...I couldn't take it to work with me and see it as with a book I can take it anywhere anytime. It is sooo frustrating.......I wish to read them all at the same time yet can't...........

I so understand where you're coming from, Sharon, about the writing. I'm writing a novel, and have three more ideas dancing around in my head. But when you're at work, what can you do? My day job is in an office, and I could just see the reaction I would get if I took out my pad and started writing furiously. :) That's why I keep it in my purse, for the times on break when I have a spare moment. The other job is mostly at night, and I'm so busy there I don't have a moment to catch my breath, much less write..lol.
I love Karen Moning's Highlander novels. This new line I'm not so sure about. I bought Darkfever when it came out last year, and had nightmares about some parts of it. Even so, Bloodfever just came out this week and I will probably end up buying it too. But the Highlander series is still my fav. Out of all the guys, who is your favorite? I've always loved Adam for his mischivousness, but I must admit Dageus is my fav. There's just something about that Immortal Highlander that takes my breath away. ;)
I'm reading the Monica McCarty books also. I'm still reading Highlander Unmasked. I just have to find the time to read more than a few pages at a time. It's all about the time thing again. There's never enough of it.:) :)

I have read both Highlander Unmasked and HighlanderUnchained, about both brothers.
YES!!!!!Dageus is also my fav highlander. There's just something that is Dark and Mysterious about that one, that makes me wish I could meet the guy in person and then that would really make my dreams at night more real, remembering a "real" time. Also, Adam's son, is my fav.
I have read DarkFever but am waiting to buy the BloodFever in paperback. The hard copy is too expensive for my taste. I am used to getting paperback, which are more pliable and can be stuck in my purse or whatever and can be taken anywhere.
I am single and 41, soon to be 42 in January. I feel like I am about to "pop" and "crack" if I don't meet a man very soon, or get to meet Adrian somewhere at a dinner or a convention........single since 1992 with a couple of dates since 1998 is making me crazy. Sorry, I am very picky where men are concerned. Someone like Adrian fits the bill pretty good. He's ideal for a mate, but he is still just a man and sometimes I would like a man of my own, but then, I see others and I am glad I am single cause I can go and do whatever I want, when I want, with whomever I want.....no questions asked. But then, maybe that's why I am in the romance mood right now, and
flirting with some of the men I work with, and if I am "let out" with the wrong people, I may do somthings I may regret, but that's not me, I stay way out of trouble, but given the right time and mood, watch out.
That's why my mind goes 90 to nothing most times and I brainstorm most everyday and dream and write stuff down, but then, I lose the paper I wrote it on and so try sooo hard to remember what was written down, where i last put it.........what a dilemma..........
Have you ever heard of the song "Devil Woman"?
I can just remember Adrian in Love Potion #9 and see him trying to watch out for the Devil Woman, playing the role in the song, and warning other men about her..........
My story idea at the moment includes Adrian, Gerard Butler, Paul Walker, Stuart Townsen, Thomas Jane, Orlando Bloom, the cocky guy on "Lost" with the blonde hair (can't think of his name at the moment), Jensen Ackles, and Jarod Padalecky, Matthew MacCounehey, just to name a few..........Don't worry, I don't think this idea wiill come to fruition any time soon, Really it is just a personal thing.
Whew! Long winded, huh?@!????!!!
 Here's a link with some excerpts of a book I'm working on. You'll need to scroll down to the bottom because it is written in the Diary section. The thing is I haven't yet decided whether I want to do this as a type of children's book or if I want to work it from a general reader's point. Here's the link: http://www.dogster.com/dogs/537839
Please give me your feedback. Constructive criticism is always welcome.;)

You know I think Duncan has spoiled us all for regular guys. I know he has for me. What guy could stand up to all that beauty, inside and out. He's certainly a tough act to follow. ;)
Seriously, though, I'm single too, but, in the area where I live there aren't many eligible men. They're either married with children or fresh out of high school. So, for now, I think I'll just pass, and have Duncan in my dreams. :)
I bought Bloodfever. With my Barnes & Noble membership discount, and the discount that was already on the book, I got it a pretty good price. So far, what I've read hasn't really impressed me. Maybe I need to try to get into it more. But, I really don't think you should have to do that with a good book. It should grab you, and hold your attention from the very beginning, not make you feel like you could take it or leave it.
Sounds like a great story idea, Sharon. Maybe, some day soon, I'll be able to pick it up at the bookstore. :)

Hello Cocoknight,
The book you're working on is awesome. I personally could never write that type of book but mine is more gerenally fictional fantasy. Kudos to you for your efforts.
From a children's book, I think it should be a miracle type book concerning cancer and sickness and all. Where Punky stays well and happy, but passes of old age and not sickness....
The so-called book I am working on is more a personal type one for me. I am selfish right now and don't feel like sharing too much on it as it would make me blush, maybe you too and make you drop your jaw.....So yeah, it isn't readable by others just yet and probably won't be for some time, but thanks for the support:D
Sharon
:D Thanks Sharon. So you think maybe I should take the hard stuff out and fluff it up and go for a children's book rather than the mixed age group??
You can send me some of yours. I'm a big girl and there isn't much I haven't seen or heard. As for blushing....I was born with a naturally blushed face so even if something does embarass me you probably couldn't tell.:D

YES! Take the hard stuff out and make it cute. Make it to where Punky has fun with the neighnorhood children, running through tall grass and the children can't find her, except when she is running she sort of leaps and that's the only time they can see her. Add other dogs playing hide and seek or tag.
I think Punky is sick and all, but she can be around children and they learn a lesson from Punky who doesn't know she is sick, she knows "I feel bad" feelings but still runs and plays and tries her best at all she does and the children learn from that.....
The lesson I think would be that even though they feel bad or are sick, it shouldn't stop them from living, like Punky.....
That is just a suggestion. I like happy stories. Punky having cancer makes my heart hurt to even think about it. That is why I could never write like that. I guess I am just too sensative that way....
Destiny: Maybe someday you'll find one of my books in the store. When I get published, probably years from now, but you guys will be the first to know about outside of my family.
C'ya,
Sharon
;) That would actually be Coco's story which is something very different from Punky's. I was thinking more along the lines of a copulation of various dog stories. Some with happy cheerful stuff and some tearful ones as well. Each chapter detailing life and times and reflecting personalities of different pups. But I am considering you view very seriously.

Hello cocoknight,
variation of dog stories would be great!:)
Here's another suggestion for Punky's story.
Listen to children play. Then remember how they interact, what they say, etc... then put that in your story, changing the kids to puppies interacting with one another.....maybe put some doggy characteristics in there,,,,,,,,cheerful and tearful stuff will be good.....doggies are sooo like real children in the way they act and react to things, it would be easy to interact the two......maybe make one story in such a way as the children can communicate with the doggies, not actually talking english but through body movement and the look in the eyes sort of thing......
Does that help?
:D ;) Yep something I'm already considering as well. Thing is we have a 10 month old baby in the house so it could be very easy to do. I already have baby brain. You know when you find yourself talking baby talk and baby stuff it can be extremely hard to get away from it. My fear with that is that some perspective readers might find it annoying to do the whole book that way. So with some dogs depending on illustrations that will fly and others not so much.:) :D
