View Full Version : If there was another Highlander movie . . . .

(and I'm not saying there is or isn't. . . . wink wink), but for a moment, just suppose there was, and that it was written by a fan, then what's on your wish list.
For me, I'd make it a three-story arc with a current Highlander and two new Highlanders; AP would direct & produce & oversee creative direction; the story would stay true to the original Highlander theme, but take a completely different direction based on past, present, and future; and the movies would position a new series for tv (with six episodes per seriesas the Brits do it instead of the 22 episode season). Btw, I'd have Vernon write the humor.
Criticizing is easy, so maybe some suggestions are needed. So, here's your chance to say "If I was king/queen, I'd do this . . . .".
So have at it.

Now there's a challenge and I thank you for your asking me to do the funny bits. I have to add there are far more worthy people out there than me who could do a better job. Then there is the question of if I had to do it could I, and would I. The answer would be "no way." The problem with humour is it doesn't travel. A UK belly laugh would probably be a States side "I don't get it!" Difficult but when you consider the differences between the UK and USA it's too vast. The Aussies would be OK they laugh at the Brits anyway.
What would I do if I was AP? I'd leave it well alone. I think AP's role as Duncan Macleod is over. Directing, mentoring, producing, writing etc OK no problem. So if there were a new series the first thing I'd have would be a guest appearance of AP as Duncan Macleod and within the first 15 minutes have his head off. Sorry but AP as good as he is has run his race with Duncan IMO.
I think AP is doing what he wants to do and why shouldn't he, it's his life. We poor mortals only stand and stare. I've seen Seance, it's very very good! and I await Wraiths of Roanoke and The Heavy.
So I'll raise my glass to Adrian Paul and just say thanks for being there and long may it continue to be your life. Oh by the way Adrian, if you do happen to read this, fancy a pint when you're back in England? I'm buying. Or there's always a bottle of the Scottish Wine in the cupboard.

Okay VG be sure there is a glass for me there too! Oh and by the way can we have it at the kitchen table;):D

I think we can solve that problem by using the BBC method of having them use the "closed caption" button on the remote control. :)

ALL RIGHT, I resemble that remark!:p I must admit sometimes British humor escapes me, but I do try really hard to catch up.:D
If I were queen, I would have a final Highlander written by one of the great series writers who would be true to the Highlander canon and Adrian as director with complete creative control. Since there are several excellent ideas to end Duncans story. Perhaps one could be found which would allow, in heaven or some similar setting, a last Scottish Single Malt to be shared by Duncan, Methos and Joe????????? A fitting end to forever friends.

I don't think Ikea make tables strong enough for what you have in mind SAC. And I've hear your table manners are dreadful. LOL

If there was a another Highlander movie???
I think they need to start from scratch--but not completely. Duncan now has a son...I think a story should be written around this new immortal--a story that had personal interaction, adventure, chills and spills--but I say--no more movies.....this needs to be either a mini series or a regular TV series...
Duncan's son needs to be as attractive as he is, as skilled with a sword and have the same charisma that Adrian Paul has-- a pretty tall order, but doable.
It would be nice to have friends for the new Highlander that can take the place of Methos, Joe, Amanda. And if the people behind all of this would actually listen and follow through, it would be ever so nice to see David A as one of the writers, and Adrian Paul as an Adviser.....
Is Denis Berry still directing?? Would like to see over half the episodes done by him--or a direct with the same vision...and if all of that can't be done????
Then let's just remember the 1st movie and the beauty of the original series and move on.........

"On behalf of the Queen, we offer you the use of closed captioning...ok so it's not on behalf of the Queen, but...." Ya gotta love BBC America. :D
Let's see, I would have the film under Bruckheimer, directed by AP, and script by AP. I agree with AP doing a guest appearance, otherwise something will have to change in order to explain why make-up and botox injections aren't working and AP looks like he's getting older. ROFL
The swordfighting scenes would be totally real with no CGI crap. Keira Knightley would join in as a butt-kicking, sword swinging immortal, who lures AP to his headless death. (Sorry Dude!)
Joe comes back to life as an immortal and takes on Knightley for whacking off AP's head. Just as he's about to zap Knightley's head off she yells, "Joe! I am your daughter!!!!" Joe is completely stunned, lowers his sword and just as he does Knightley smiles sweetly up at him and says, "Just kidding!" And whack there goes Joes head rolling down the street where it hits 10 beer cans making a strike. :D
PS: Two years later, Disney turns Highlander into a theme park!

In my sick demented mind? The Haunted Immortal House! You ride along in a car driven by Duncan, while decapitated evil immortals float around with real swords trying to take your head to replace their own!
Then at a certain point you have to exit the car and walk through a cemetary where technically you should be safe...but noooooooooooo!!!!!! There in the cemetary awaits evil Duncan (he was cool!) !!! Other immortals reach up through the graves and try to yank you down!!!
Only a few who enter the house ever get out without losing at least one appendage. If you don't lose an appendage you have to go back again. Why? Just because. :D
Of course, all the sissies and romantic types would skip this ride and go for the Moonlight Fantasy Ride with their own inflatible Duncan. ROFL!!!!!

Hey Yobeone I am one of those Romantics, but definitely wouldn't settle for an inflatable doll this girl would only settle for the real thing!!!;)
:DROFL. Love the humor. Some pretty good points made though.
If I had my way.. I'd go the miniseries route too. Duncan and Anna's gift from the Source would not only include a child but both would become mortal. It would not be one child but twins. A son and a daughter. The immortality would be passed to the children. Duncan would teach them as he did with Richie and other immortals. They would become college students making friends along the way. Duncan and Anna would be tragically killed in an accident on the way home from the graduation. If its written well and it flies right you have a spinoff...Oh and did I fail to mention..The first head they are forced to take will be Methos (who escaped the cannibals but now has a grudge against Duncan because he got the prize.) After all Methos is getting on in years..SSHHH don't tell him that though!!:D

Yeah Coco I like the sound of that!!!:D
:DThanks Steph!! I think it would answer some things and leave room to include the younger crowd with endless possibilities as to the different episodic adventures that it could take them on. Liz Gracen could even be written in as actually being alive but faked being dead to avoid being beheaded by immortals hunting her.
Or if you wanted the final ending have all the immortals become mortal as a result of Duncan's choice. He and his family along with the other immortals get to grow old and die off.;)

Why have anyone die off? Keep em around to bounce grandkids(off walls or knees) and teach lessons to the idiots that won't listen to their "elders".
A new adventure for the next generation is ok, but keep the original people around for us that are still here and need to see more of them. So, why change anything. Keep what's good and don't mess with it. Leave it alone.
Sure, add a kid or two, but the originals need to stay more than anything. Merge the two ideas, old with the new but the old still rules.
Don't kill Methos or Amanda. Methos could become a computor teacher and teach a class on how to do things the right way as well as give history lessons.
Amanda could be a thorn in Anna's side like she was to everyone else that dated Duncan. She could open an abbey for girls that learn sword fighting and manners.
Duncan can be a Dean of a university where the others teach and they have their own battles still to face. Still, old adversaries. Like Michelle, Casandra,
Felicia........
:DIt all sounds good Sharon. But our immortals aren't getting any younger and Botox cam only do so much!!:p And AP wishes to do other things and Liz Gracen is retired and other stuff. This allows them to jump start it though. I don't think Raven took of partly because Amanda wasn't liked by quite a few fans and Duncan was the tie that bound all the different personalities on the show together. But two Duncan types (A male and a Female) with the same dynamics would work.;)

LOL yes I have to agree. If AP were to play Duncan, as part of a new series, he would have to bow out fairly quickly or at least be mortal to account for his aging. Now AP looks wonderful for his age but its stretching things a bit much to still think he looks 34.
I seriously doubt whether AP would even want to play Duncan again in any movie and certainly not a series. Life and careers move on and I think maybe its time Highlander fans did to. Much has we love it, its had its day and its magic can't be recaptured just because we would like it to.
Concentrate on AP's other projects there is far more to him than just Duncan.

Steph I agree with you. As much as I would love Duncan MacLeod to go on forever, Adrian Paul needs to do new things. I would love to see him in another series, maybe this time on a network channel and not in syndication where we all have to search for him. But then again, he probably is a little tired of the tv series work too. Too bad Tracker didn't make it farther, I just finished watching it, my area never carried it so I was quite excited when I managed to get a copy of it. But I do love watching him in anything. As long as he keeps working we will all be happy and so will he of course :)

I agree with you 100% Stef- (take a look at Christopher, Connor was really not looking 20ish anymore)- except for Adrian and the looking 34/35 ish thing, a little make-up goes a long way in the movies- besides people think I'm younger too(most of the time) and he and I are the same age (maybe it's the Italian genes?) I color my hair throw on some make-up and I still get carded.
;)WELL SAID STEPH!!! Love seeing him in any and all his endeavors and the rest of the gang too!!
