Oh Steph I quite agree this movie looks like a winner!!! It's a shame they didn't get this young man to direct the Source at least he was a fan of the Highlander TV series and probably would have done a much better job.
Hey all this will be on Sci Fi on October 13, 2007 at 9:00 pm EST. I am so looking forward to seeing this movie!!!

That looks sooo cool!!!! Start the countdown! :)
This movie does look good, and hopefully it will help us all to put the "Source" debacle behind us....I refuse to be dismayed by the fact that it is Sci-Fi that is showing the movie-home of "Mansquito", "Mammoth", and "The Source"...
Wow...up until Saturday night the worst film I've ever seen in my life was "Wisdom" with Emilio Estevez and Demi Moore.
I guess, I should move to USA LOL.
The video looks good and I can't expecting to see that movie, same with the "The Source". Don't care what the criticism means, I'll do my own opinion:)
Always sorry for my english (not sure about spelling, translating and sentence construction )

Don't you worry Ute, you do really well with your English. :)
At least you have a DVD release date for The Source in Germany. AWP are trying to find a DVD distributor for Wraiths/Lost Colony so hopefully that won't take too long either.

Ute--there is no reason to do anything so drastic! LOL!
There are generous USA fans with DVD recordings to help out......
I am drastic *LOL*
In end of this year we'll have "The Source" on DVD. I guess it will be this russian cut, the runtime shall be 94 minutes. I'm looking forward to this :)
DVD's from US has the problems with the region code and I heard, they are in NTSC format, we use PAL. I've no idea if NTSC DVD's runs on PAL Player.
So I hope we get "Wraith/Lost Colony" on DVD in GER soon :)

Ute many European TVs and DVD players will play both PAL and NTSC format. What they do have a problem with is the Region coding on many DVDs. Most DVD players bought in stores in Europe will only play Region 2 discs.
There are some specialist stores and many online retailers that now sell mutli-region or region-free DVD players. They are no more expensive than ordinary ones starting at about 35 Euros and will play discs from anywhere in the world.
Getting one of those would be a little less drasitc!!:D

Lost Colony is going to be a wonderful movie, right up my alley in thrills and chills, horror film genre. Cannot wait. You say it is going to be on Sci fi on Oct. 13th? I am going to tape this one no matter what anyone says. I will boot everyone out of the house just to watch up close and get all the details (small tv).
Croatoan. An episode was done about it on Supernatural in season two. Now one is done with our AP and it will be MOST EXCELLENT.
I can't wait for the DVD either.

It looks promising but as someone who has been to Roanoke island many times the landscape is all wrong. There are no mountains off in the distance like that. North Carolina is flat near the coast. The vegetation is not that lush either. Small beef I guess though.

This is a fictionalised movie not a documentary so I guess its safe to assume its only loosley based on the real Roanoke.:D

You do realize this is a fictional movie--a thriller, with supernatural things--special effects--it isn't a documentary--and even if they had shot this movie on the actual Island, it could have look different two hundred years ago...most probably it did.

Guess its hard to tell from soundbites in a trailer but AP sounded just like AP to me.:D LOL It makes a refreshing change from the many accents he has adopted in other roles.
The only region I could pick up in the trailer is the one he was born and brought up in.:)

I found this on SciFi channel's web site with information on the movies coming this fall and found this
Wraiths of Roanoke, SCI FI, premieres Saturday, Oct. 13, at 9 p.m. ET/PT
Adrian Paul stars in this story about the famed missing colony. In the late 16th century, colonists in Roanoke, Va., found themselves under siege against evil spirits left behind by the Vikings. The wraiths are hunting the innocent souls of the first-born children in order to get into Valhalla. Matt Codd directs.
As Steph mentioned earlier this story is Loosely based on historical facts. Since there are no historical facts to begin with on the Lost Colony because no one knows what happened to those poor colonists; so it does leave a lot of room for the imagination of writers.
I for one am looking very much forward to seeing this movie it looks like it is going to be a good one!!

Yea I know it is not real, I never have saw a Wraith while there. I am sure the island did look different many years ago but there were not any mountains in the background then either.
Like I said it is a minor gripe and would not affect my opinion of the movie. I hope it is a great movie. I enjoy watching AP and was let down by the Source.

Lost Colony/Wraiths was shot in Europe, in Bulgaria I think. You may be confusing it with Eyeborgs that was shot in the US this year. That's our AP though, always flying about so much we get easily confused.:D

Wraiths of Roanoke....hmmmmmm.....just watched it.
How wrong is it that Adrian keeps getting better looking the older he gets? *sigh* Yummilicious baby! :D
As SciFi Originals go.....or as we like to call them in our house...SciFi Craptaculars.....it wasn't bad. It wasn't good either, but at least it didn't stink like most of them do.
ok...here is the problem with the premise of this movie....you are a man "destined" to "hold this island in case England goes to war with Spain." And you SEE the danger the moment you get there....dead body...missing men....your friend warns you of the danger.....etc.....so you have this knowledge and you keep your wife and unborn child there with you? INSISTS that they stay there AFTER more deaths occur?
Um.....does the term "too stupid to live" mean anything to you?
Did I mention how gorgeous Adrian is? lol
I just don't get it....how does this GORGEOUS talented actor end up in a SciFi craptacular instead of being 007?

The historic thread about the Vikings and their customs concerning Valhalla was so captivating. Finally, after a long while, a vehicle worthy of APs talents, and did he shine!
He nailed the character, the period, the emotion and we were even treated to a short sword performance which was wonderfully done.
BRAVO!! to AP, cast, and crew. This was well worth the wait:)

I'm watching Wraiths right now from an earlier taping, and I will be the first to say I'm not a horror fan, never have been, but other than the scary aspect, this is an interesting movie. Adrian does an excellent job as a leader who must protect his family, while trying to maintain the colony against extremely frightening odds.

*****SPOILER******
I LIKED IT. ADRIAN REALLY SEEMED TO FIT THE CHARACTER HE PLAYED. tHE PROPS ALL LOOKED QUITE BELIEVABLE. OVERALL AS A HORROR.THRILLER MOVIE I FOUND IT VASTLY ENTERTAINING...
tHE SCRIPT WAS REALLY QUITE GOOD--STORYLINE EXCELLENT.....I LIKED MOST OF THE CHARACTERS--ESPECIALLY THE MALE LEAD THAT PLAYED WIH ADRIAN--THOSE TWO COMPLIMENTED EACH OTHER........
ADRIAN LOOKED FANTASTIC, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, HE BLENDED INTO THE ROLE. I DON'T THINK HIS LOOK DISTRACTED FROM IT. --AND THERE WAS SOME REALLY WONDERFUL SCENES IN THIS. I REALLY COULD RELATE TO THE SOUL SUCKING WRAITHS BECAUSE THE DARK-HUNTER SERIES I READ HAVE SOUL SUCKING DAIMONS--AND GEE, WOULDN'T YOU KNOW, THEY PRIZE THE INNOCENCE OF A BABY ABOVE ALL OTHER SOULS--
I FOUND ELEANOR DARE A LITTLE IRRITATING AND WHINY--AND THERE WAS A FEW TIMES I THOUGHT ANNARIS SHOULD HAVE WALKED OUT ON HER SNAPPINESS--BUT WHEN PUSH CAME TO SHOVE SHE STRAIGHTENED OUT AND I QUITE LIKED HER TOWARD THE END.
GREAT MOVIE--
I DO WISH SCI FI HAD NOT TOASTED IT AS BEING THE ACTUAL EVENTS THAT TOOK PLACE ON ROANOKE ISLAND.....

I thought this movie was very good. I have been interested in the Lost Colony for awhile. And having Adrian Paul in it just made my day. I thought it was one of his better movies. The script was true to the real story except Captain John Smith was missing. And the ending was excellent. I agree with another fan in that I did not like the choice for his wife. But then would I really like anyone? It was an interesting idea of how the colonist disappearred. I hope this is released on DVD.

I liked the movie also and I'm happy to see that the same man that wrote this is also doing the "Captain Drake" film. Gives us hope for the next movie as well. In answer to your complaint about the lack of any deep emotion between Annanias and Eleanor, you have to remember the time period they are in, English citizens in the 16th century would not be highly passionate. Husband and wives would be more reserved with each other. I was a history major and trust me, they showed just the right emoting towards each other. The movie was well written and directed, and Adrian did a great job in this but then I've yet to see a movie that he hasn't done well in. Can't wait to see "Capt. Drake".

I really enjoyed it to, But I have to agree that there was a lack of chemistry between Ananias and Eleanor. I think she was the weakest member of the main cast although her performance did improve toward the end.
Pepe I agree with everything you said about the movie and the way Adrian fitted the role so perfectly and the other character I really liked was Mantao.
I loved the moment in the forest when Ananias planted his sword in the ground and turned to throw water at the Wraith. They was something extra special in the way Adrian moved in that shot.
There was one continuity flaw that made me smile. During the All Hallows Eve festivities when the guy relieved Ananias from guard duty, he took a bottle from his shirt to take a drink. Now I could be wrong but it looked like a very modern bottle and not the kind or shape they would have used in Elizabethan times.LOL
Its got to be a good movie if that's the one fault I noticed.:D

It was horrible in the movies "Love potion number 9" He played the part in "Wraiths/Lost Colony perfectly. I know it is a mean thing to do and say, but I cheered when his wife Eleanor was killed. She whined and whined through the whole movie. No because he recieves so many and is far too busy working. If you have a question you can go to his website and click on Fanzone. There is a place there to submit questions. I just read an interview by Rafael Jordan, the writer of Wraiths/Lost Colony, and he said that Adrian was an "absolute pleasure to work with." He also stated that being a huge Highlander fan himself, he ad actually used Duncan as his role model for how his Annanias character would act. He said he was shocked and thrilled when Adrian was actually cast to play the role. He has also written the script for Adrian's next film about Sir Francis Drake which Rafael described as an action/adventure film with some fantastical elements thrown in. Sounds great to me, can't wait.
;) You are Welcome. Anything for a fellow fan Wanda. Victoria does a great job here at the message board and the entire staff is great so don't hesitate to seek their help!! (Sam waving at Victoria!)
I saw "Wraiths Of Roanoke" FINALLY!! I thought it was really good. Adrian as always did a GREAT JOB!!! Someone spoke earlier about the lack of chemistry and how Whiny the wife was. However that fits with who she was and the time period in which it was set. PDA's were a definite DON'T during those days and women were brought up to support their husbands decisions without question and sex was considered a chore or wifely duty and to produce children. You also have to consider that this was an Era where marriages were arranged according to social status and paid for with a dowry. A woman of her status for that time period would be spoiled and whiny. And men didn't dare show a lot of emotion in front of anyone because that they would be seen as weak. Unless of course it was courage or anger. I think they managed to pull off a really good portrayal of the time period and incorporate it into a really good horror movie. Even my poodle got into it. She would start barking everytime the wraiths made that eerie noise.

I just watched Wraiths of Roanoke: Lost Colony. That was a good movie. I just wish he didn't die in the end. I have one question, though. If everyone died.....how do they know that that is what happened? Virginia was too young to have known what had really transpired. And the Indian dude wasn't on the island where everything happened. I thought it was interesting that AP started out....in the first scene....using his AP voice but after the first few scenes....he fell back into his Duncan voice and by the end of the movie....that was definitely Duncan....not the character he originally started portraying. For a movie that was the same length as the Source.....it sure seemed longer and much more "substantial". Like the difference between a basket filled with apple cores and one filled with apples. A box filled with packing peanuts and one filled with chocolate covered peanuts. A hot tub filled with water and a hot tub filled with water and a naked Adrian Paul.

Great point, Coco, about the reality of the times and the accepted behaviors. I, too, first saw Ananais' wife as whiny, but I remembered she was first pregnant, then a new mother, and her concerns all seemed to be related to protecting her child. Not to mention the added stress of coming to settle in a wilderness where they were virtually alone with no escape. Pretty scary, stressful times for someone who came from the aristocracy and was probably somewhat pampered and spoiled up to that point.
I also thought Adrian was great, as usual.:D

A box filled with packing peanuts and one filled with chocolate covered peanuts. A hot tub filled with water and a hot tub filled with water and a naked Adrian Paul.
Umm it did not really happen that way it was just a movie. No one knows what happened to them but undead Viking spirits is not real high on the list of possibilities.
I think they simply went to the other island. They left their destination on a post as was planned. No one ever went and looked for them there so that seems like the most likely scenerio.

It is believed that most of the settlers died from disease and Indian attacks. There were some reports made by later settlers that white people were being held as slaves by some Indian tribes and they feel that this may be what happened to the remaining members of this settlement. Also, Eleanor's father was not able to return in the spring, it was actually almost 3 years before he made it back to the island due to the war with Spain. The movie was for entertainment purposes only and not a historical piece. The writer of the movie said he had grown up in the area and was always intriqued by the story.
:) I heard those things too Barney. I also heard that it was believed the crops wouldn't grow because of a high salt content in the soil and the freezing cold weather along with their isolation and no food led to the deaths of most. Given the belief systems that existed at the time they probably did what we saw in the movie. Place the dead bodie on rafts and set fire to them to prevent diseases from spreading to the colony and when the remaining colonists left for land they were killed by indians.
On another note..We were speculating about the color of AP's eyes. I have a friend who has seen those eyes on many occasion and they have informed me that Adrian's eyes are (can I get a drumroll please??) absolutely, unequivicably HAZEL!! TAH DAH!!! (no applause please just shoot Peace signs):D

The only thing we can do is guess at what happened to the settlers. It's just fun trying to figure it out. Especially with the help of AP.
Good detective work Cocoknight. I happen to like men with hazel eyes!:D :D
Thanks Wanda.(Coco takes a bow.:D )
Yep I really love a good mystery. You really can't expect any better from a girl who grew up on "Nancy Drew" and "Hardy Boys" mysteries.:o I love the things that make me go..HHMMMM.:D

I really respect the members opinions like I would hope you respect mine as well..... I haven't seen the Wraiths/lost Colony and I know words get lost through history. But I have learn that storys get told through the mouths of the one that has won the war. I have grown up with the history book telling only one side of the story. But, why dose it always end "and they were kill off by the Indians." That wasn't always the case in the area a lot of the Native took them in. The colonist at the time, would have gone through what looked to be that they were held against there well. You forming a trust with the people and then if you show you trust you were to become part of the family. In todays time it still holds true before you become part of the family you have to show trust. The native people of Va and Nc still believe in family. Once you in with the family your there for ever. Believe it or not, because of the lost colony we have many brothers and sister across the pond. I think the old saying was " Make the World England".
