I remember the first time that I saw the "Homeland" episode and how the song Bonnie Portmore made me sad. I've never been able to hear that song again without tears.

Last night we had the good fortune to see Loreena McKennitt in concert and as part of the set, she played Bonnie Portmore, and here came the tears. It is amazing how one song and one TV show can have such an impact still after so many years.

The concert was originally planned outdoors at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles, but with the fire ongoing, the Greek and another theater worked hard and in one day managed to move the concert to the Gibson theater and swap tickets for everyone. Loreena's show is amazing and I would encourage attending when the chance arises.

I agree with you. This is one of the most beautiful song I've ever heard. I'm searching for the exact lyrics on the web right now. The sites I know don't have it....still searching.

Loreena McKennitt's Website, Quinlan Road (http://www.quinlanroad.com) has the lyrics for all of her music and info on the tour. Lovely site!

Another song used in the show that will almost always bring tears to my eyes whenever and wherever I hear it is "Dust in the Wind." Yes, even that commercial for some car or van or somesuch that was airing maybe a year or so ago. How silly to tear up over a commercial... and a bad one at that.

Yes Nora,
I also love so much "Dust in the Wind" .
Bonnie Portmore is often in my mind, but...I cry always, always.....
I can't imagine though about Scotland and Duncan without this song on my mind.

p.s. "Dust in the Wind" has many news remix: we can see on You Tube also.

I agree - I even downloaded Bonnie Portmore onto my IPOD along with the rest of the Highlander CD so that I can listen to it any time I want.

I too really like 'Bonnie Portmore', but I have to say 'Dust in the Wind' is my favourite. Whenever I hear it I can see Duncan as he closes up the antique shop at the end of 'The Darkness', he is sitting at the bottom of a staircase thinking of Tessa and remembering their time together I can't help but get teary and cry it is so moving.

I'm the same Pheonix! I can be driving in the car and Dust in The Wind will come on and BINGO, I'll get teary eyed right away just thinking of Duncan, standing there dressed in black looking so handsome and strong and yet so vulnerable as he thinks about his Tessa and relives happier moments in their lives together. It can be rather embarassing when I'm sitting in the hairdresser's chair and the song comes on! LOL It often does too, as that song is a classic and still gets a lot of airplay on radio.

But seriously, that is an amazing scene and Adrian did such a beautiful job of it, proving once again how he can convey emotion so well without any dialogue whatsoever. Just his expression and the look in his eyes speaks volumes.

Yes! I agree! Just that tic in his jaw speaks moutains of emotion...be it grieving for a lost loved one or the fury of a highland warrior! Adrian is always at his best as Duncan MacLeod! :D

I am under the imprestion that "Dust In The Wind" is only used in the "Darkness" episode 4 in season 2 when Tesssa dies. Is it used in other episodes?

I think "Dust in the Wind" was used for that one episode. That was the first time I heard that song, so I bought a whole cd just because of it. I did the same for "Bonnie Portmore. I bought the Highlander Endgame cd. I like all the music from the tv series. I'm looking for the songs sung by "Queen".
