View Full Version : Which HL episode?

Can you guess which episode is the inspiration? I think it's an easy one. :) Thanks for reading and I hope you like it.

To the Death

Desperation, furrowed brow.
The battle is on,
There's no time now.

To the death!
Each warrior struggles
To deal the blow
Forcing the other's last breath.

Circling, wary,
Steel on steel.
Thrust! Wield! Parry!

Axe misses the mark
The advantage is lost.
Sword then swings
In a high wide arc.

A third enemy now enters the fight
Fatigue - stealing their strength
Their power, their might.

Advance for the kill!
Now back away,
Muscles scream in agony,
Anger fuels their will.

Advantage to neither, each of them knows
Either can be victim
Of the other's blows.

Wield the sword -one last mighty swing!
A warrior falls,
Draws his last breath.
For the victor, the Quickening.

At last, exhausted, he drops to his knees,
Drained of all energy,
He struggles to breathe.

It's done!
He's destroyed his enemy,
The threat is no more,
The battle unasked for, but still has been won.

Passion raw, exposed, distorting his face
Must be mastered, concealed.
Before leaving this place.

It cannot persist!
Modern times must not know,
That he walks in this world,
That his kind exists.

Believe it or not, I thought I was writing it for Mountain Men. :o That fight scene is so very powerful and I thought I'd try to describe it.

So when I read you post, I decided that I should go and watch Homeland again - and you know what? You're right! :) It seems to fit Homeland better!

So now, I'm going to try to write something from Homeland from the lost love point of view. I wonder which episode it will fit? :D

Well folks, there you have it - another Twilight Zone moment... ;)

Oh, I think you did fine this time. :) Even if the writer or artist intends one thing, I think everyone interprets from their own point of view.

I like looking at things from different points of view...and thanks to you, I had a reason to watch Homeland again. ;)

I would say it's from the episode Revelation 6:8.

Bethie, I've just seen your post. Now I'm off to watch Revelation 6:8... :)

Where is my next challenge????:D:D:D

Are you sure you really want to know? Well you asked... :)

Bethie thought the axe fight was the scene from Revelations 6:8, so I went to watch it. Well to get the right feel, I then watched Comes a Horseman, and then because I wanted to remember where Cassandra came from, I watched Prophecy. I must admit, Bethie you have a point! ;)

So now, I have all these new ideas in my head - but I'm completely stumped! I don't know which to choose. I do know that I want to write from a man's point of view, but once I decided that - I'm really stumped.

I haven't figured out how men think, so how can I write from their point of view? Duncan MacLeod for example has lived for hundreds of years and has so many experiences. Anther character may ask him a question, and while the audience gets treated to beautifully rich flashback, the other character may hear only "It's complicated", or "I don't know" or worse yet - "No". Can you believe it?

Since hubby now avoids me when I talk about writing from a man's point of view - I mean it's almost like "Beam me out Scotty" he's gone so fast - I turn to my brother, the next accessible male in my life. I'm watching him watch his daughter and I see all these expressions fly across his face. I say "Isn't she beautiful?" and he says "Yep.". I say "What were you thinking just now?" and he says "Nothing."

?**@!!?

...and in a flash, he's gone too. Quite a feat for someone who is 6'5" and well over 200 pounds.

Now that I've ranted...

Akashary the answer to your question is "Hopefully soon".
I'm an optimist - I have a lifetime to figure it out. If not this one, then the next, and the next... :D

Well then....seems I have to follow you through a lot of lives...:D:eek:

...won`t be so difficult since we share the same kind of taste about men!!!:D

OK - I'm going way out on a limb here, I hope this works...:o

Duncan MacLeod has led many lives and has had several loves. For you, which one inspires this poem? There is no right answer - it all depends on your point of view.

The One

She is here, she is with me
She is here, where I need her to be
She is here, my beloved one,
My love, my salvation, my mercy.

Our love is strong, it sustains me
Her eyes, so deep, they fill my soul
Her arms, so warm, they comfort me
She is the one. For me. She is my life.

She shall not fear, I cherish and protect her.
She shall not need, she has all that I am.
She shall not be alone, I am with her always.
My love, my treasure, my light.

I am the blade, she is my chalice.
Desire runs hot, undeniable, our fever flares.
Passion ignites, on fire, it consumes us.
She is the one. For as long as we both shall live.

Just Because I would have to say that would be Tessa because even though he had so many loves she seemed to be the only one who he loved so completely.:p
I grew up surrounded by men so I know how they think!! What do you want to know?? :D

Hmmm, that really is quite a challenge....:cool:!

But when I think about it, and I´m sure now I become the bad girl here, it remembers me to none of Duncans loves but of Connors....Heather, his first and most precious love, he lived together with to the very end!!
Sorry, but that`s the first thing that came in to my mind when I read your wonderful poem, JustBecause!:)

Not at all (bad girl, that is)! It's a different point of view. Now I've got to watch the movie again. :)

Coco, hcla - no fair ladies!!! Share!! :)

I finally cornered my brother and he bends down, and gives me a hug with his chin on my head (since I'm more than a full foot shorter) and says "Sometimes feelings are too deep to talk about." So I hug him back and say "I love you." and find that I'm talking to thin air. You know coco I'm a bit thick-headed , but I think I've got it now... :o :)

:) Just Because men love on a more superficial level than women. It's all about his perception of what a REAL MAN is. It doesn't mean that they don't feel love or passion. Just that theirs is fleeting. Like a butterfly that lands and quickly floats away. Unlike a woman's love or passion which lingers for long spanses of time. He feels betrayed when he feels his manhood is threatened in someway. Take all the murder-suicides you hear about that seem more and more common place now. They don't do it because their love for this woman was so intense or their love for their children were so intense. If that were the case they would never do anything to hurt them. It is always because they feel the woman has emasculated them by leaving them. They see it as her taking possessions from them and screaming to the world that they are less of a man for it. It's also the reason for their seven year itch and mid-life crisis and why more men cheat than women. Men think with their heads while a woman thinks with her head and her heart. Don't get me wrong. I'm not bashing men. I LOVE men!! But these are some insights I have been given by men about themselves and every man they know! One more thing I know. Men want what they don't have and once they get it they become bored with it. They love the chase but once it's caught they lose their fascination with it. To some it up...they are cats and we are their favorite cat toy!! Now mind you there are a FEW exceptions out there but not many!!;)

Well geez... that's depressing. :o There I was thinking that some men have feelings that run too deep to put into words. Oh well. Sigh...

I think I'll just write them that way anyway... :)

But right now, I'm going to go have a Harvey's on the rocks with lemon. :D

It is actually us women who romanticize relationships. With men...It's pretty much "What you see is what you get!! So make sure you aren't wearing blinders or rose colored glasses when you bump into them.;)
:p OK, The Doctor Is Out!!
I'm heading to the Pub for a strawberry-mango margarita.

Tessa is an obvious choice, but so is Little Deer. He loved her completely too, and after she was murdered, Duncan was so distraught, he went and hid out on Holy Ground for ten years.

He has loved a lot of women very deeply. We just saw more of his life with Tessa than any other.
