MeridianXO...are going to this one?....how about you renate? I'm planning on it .....SOOOOO happy no need to fly...YIPPEEE!!! ROADTRIP. However I did get spooked with the recent earthquake news...I'm such a chicken....I won't be staying in a highrise thats for sure. :o:) I wonder if there is such a thing as a phobia of being afraid of stuff one does'nt have control over? Unknown stuff scares the sh.t out of me.

MeridianXO

I have a cousin who lives in Oklahoma that is terrified of earthquakes -- she prefers the odd tornado now and then...Totally weird. She came out to visit a few years ago and her anxiety over a possible earthquake unnerved her so much that she got right back on the plane and flew home. As for me, I was born and raised in So. Cal. Most of the time I don't even feel them, or mistake them for something else. I think the one exception was in 1987-1988 (I can't remember which year...All I know was that I was 12 *haha*) when I was still living in Long Beach and a big one hit...Scared the crap out of me, I did everything wrong that one is supposed to do in the event of a quake, and ended up with a minor concussion due to an aftershock a few moments after when a cupboard door flew open and hit me upside the head as I was running full pelt out the backdoor to check on my dog (Who had, for some reason unbeknownst to the rest of the universe, decided to climb up a latter during the quake and had managed to get stuck at the top).

As for HLWW9, I'll have to get back to you on that one. :)

Meridianxo....you of all people would surely have an ansewer to my question...:D is there a name for people that always worry about the unknown...shoot...I'm starting to creep out even my husband..."oh we should'nt do this or that....this might happen. DOG up that ladder..:):D (cracken' up)......I'll never forget the picture in my head...see animals do have good insticts...during a flood they'll dig a hole...earthquake they'll get to higher ground.:D

Sam

:D Laughing about the thought of the poor doggie at the top of the ladder. Weird HUH how the animals can sense stuff like that even before it happens.
:D YEP HCLA we are called WORRIERS!! We've seen so many things go wrong and felt their effects so we've learned to expect the worst and pray for the best.
HLWW9?? I can never make plans that far in advance. But it probably isn't going to happen for me.
I heard there is also going to be a HLWW Con in Paris in the future so our friends who don't get to LA might make it to this one.
Maybe Helene' and some of our friends from across the pond will finally get the chance to meet Adrian. :)

I guess its only sensible to worry about certain things, if only for the sake of self-preservation.
On the other hand I do think its better to be an optimist than a pessimist. I call it being "A cup half-full" person rather than "A cup half-empty" person. I've always been able to consider my cup half-full even at my lowest moments. I'm the eternal optimist who always feels things will turn out OK in the end. In my case they usually do, even if it takes a while for me to see it that way.
Always expect the worst and that's what you often get. Life is way to short to spend it worrying over things that you can't control and that old saying of "laughter is the best medicine" is very true.:)

As for the HLWW LA Con we won't be able to go to that, but if they do ever have one in Paris we'll be there.

I will find a way to get there if I have to thumb it cross country and sleep on a park bench when I get there.(I've done Iraq, this couldn't be any worse)
Earthquakes? H*ll I live in hurricane country. I'd rather feel the earth shake than be lifted 50 feet in the air and dropped 2 miles away. at least in a quake you have the chance to run.

HLWW9

Even in a City of Angels, you need to find your Holy Ground.

Highlander WorldWide, the official fan club for the Highlander franchise, is delighted to announce that April 2009 will see a return in location to the country, city and hotel that served us so well for the Walkabout Workshop in 2005. Unlike that event, which showcased 4 episodes and the actors and crew from those episodes, this is HLWW's first full regular 'convention' in the USA and we are very excited about it.

After serious consideration about all options and venues, HLWW9 will see us back at the Westin LAX from April 24th to 26th 2009. It's only a short distance from Los Angeles airport and downtown attractions and a location no stranger to big conventions and events having also hosted the Reunion convention. The hotel - which already had great facilities when we ran the Walkabout event - has had even more improvements in the last year and there will be activities in several areas including the popular theatre venue itself. The Westin are glad to have us back, we're delighted to be returning and we've organized a particularly low and attractive block rate for bedrooms there.

As for guests, HLWW will have an extensive line-up of not only 'the' major star/s of the show but also a number of additional guests who helped to make the franchise so successful. We're going to increase the interactive involvement in the weekend, giving fans the chance to prove how important they are themselves to a successful and fun weekend.

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in Los Angeles in April so start saving those pennies, choosing roommates and researching Los Angeles!

A new teaser poster has gone up on our introductory page at www.highlanderwordwide.com (http://www.highlanderwordwide.com/) and further information on registration and hotel room bookings will be announced later this week.

One of the things that we committed to do in 2008 was a complete revamp and re-launch of our website and our webmaster has exhausted herself in getting this to a stage where we can now launch it and complete it over the next few months with help from fans. Thank you Sue for an incredible job.

We will be launching the new website when we launch registrations for Sanctuary.

Well I registered to go to the convention in LA, it will be my very first convention of any kind. I only found out about Highlander a couple of years ago. Quite by accident, literally. I injured my knee and had to have surgery and was laid up for 6 weeks, flipping through the channels I came upon an exciting swordfight and paused to watch and was hooked. Unfortunately it stopped playing a short time later. Then by chance, I saw the DVD's for sale and I have now watched all 6 seasons.

I just hope I registered in time to get to do everything. Being my first time, I want to experience it all. I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed.

Hi every one,

I haven’t posted very often because being born a French speaking Canadian (and also being shy) sometimes my English fails me (although I work in a bilingual place):o. I love reading regularly the posts.

When I saw the HLWW9 announcement, the little wheels in my head started working overtime. I spoke with a coworker friend of mine and he told me that I should go for it, that we only have one life to live. So I asked him if he would come with me, but that did not work out because of work.
Then he told me to make a woman out of myself and to go alone:eek:.
Since my birthday is coming up very soon I gave myself the very best birthday present ever and I registered for everything today:D. Since this will be my very first convention, I want to experience it all (I hope I wasn’t too late).
On that note I hope to meet some you there!

To Loveap...way to go!!! You know the advice your friend gave you about we having only one life so enjoy it....IT'S the truth...I day dreamed about going to one for years, and then one day I happened unto the charity site..PEACE, and the next thing I was doing was reliving the series, and sighning on for Highlander 8, Vancouver....and now I'm on board for L.A., YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED IN ANY WAY....and everyone welcomes newbies, the people of HLWW, and all the con goers are extremely nice. Also if you like visit pounds for peace at yahoo groups, mabe you would like to join us, or just lend a kind word to us.:)

yes, amarnagrape...it should be pretty great...did'nt you join up on pfp? How aree you doing with it, um.your goals? I've done well, and battled the quit smokes thing since about 11:am or so, spent my 20 0n the BEAST..for whatever reason it kicked by butt today, and then hubby decides to go to town and bring home pizza, I was fighting it well until He decided to plop in front of me with it. SO I decided to eat, and then will spend at least 20 on the beast...aka elliptical...however as I'm on the computer right now ...can't you tell I'm enthused to no end. I also would swear that the grease in the pizza made me ill.... I have'nt been eating any garbage like that.

This is going to be tough:eek:! I've stopped smoking for almost a month, cold turkey, and my body is a little pissed.... I've been trying to eat better, forcing myself to eat SOMEthing in the morning, making myself drink more water during the day. I'm hoping by the end of the week I will have been toi the gym at least once. Once I do my weigh-in party I should be able to stay on track.

Hi everyone,

Wow, I haven't posted here in a long time. Anyway, it's nice to see so many first time con goers who will be going to LA. I can guarantee that you will have an experience you'll never forget. I don't need to tell you how great Adrian is "duh" but all of the GOH's are incredibility entertaining.

I've also got to tell you that HLWW does the most awesome job of making sure that every single person there has the time of their lives.

For all the first timers, when you get there if your not sure about something don't be afraid to just stop anyone and ask what, where, when or how. We are all there for a great time and want to make sure you have the same.

I'm signed up and going (as long as my schedule doesn't change *keeping fingers crossed*) and I will have a report plus pictures when i get back. ;)

Working on getting that new D-SLR camera to take with me too. But I'll have my regular 12 mp pocket camera there no matter what. And you never know what I'll get into. LOL As many have found out before when they are around me. Never a dull moment. Something always seems to happen.

I'll actually be glad to be able to relax a little at this one. Holding Indylander was extremely fun and I was happy to make it so enjoyable for those who attended. But there was very little time for me to really socialize with all the friends when your always busy running it. It is a completely difference expirience all around. Something I am glad to say I've seen both sides of. :D

Made it home from the con yesterday the 28th.

My report will probably be a few days in coming. I had to be on set within hours of stepping off the plane. I needed some sleep before it. Didn't get much sleep at the con as things were busy. Now I have to be back on set tomorrow again and then the Race Stuff starts on friday. But I'll have the report up before long. I've had way too much going on.

Oh and alot found what "It" was too. ;) Alot were pretty shocked by it. LOL

I did get to take both Stan's Acting Class and Adrian's Tai Chi class there too. I was drawn for the first class actually but switched with someone so I could take Stan's class. Both were fun.

It is always nice to catch up with your friends and relax though. Something I needed LOL. Like I said I've had alot going on!

Have to run already. Have some fun!

Glad to hear that everyone had a great time. :) Still wish I could have gone, but I firmly believe that everything happens for a reason. Reason 1: became pregnant and have had a lot of morning sickness until recently. Reason 2: my 21 month old son caught a stomach virus which I ended up catching. As it stands, I would have been right in the middle of the convention when I got sick. Pukked seven times in less than 8 hours. I felt like I wanted to die. So I guess it was a good thing I didn't end up going. No fun being sick.:(
Maybe next time
