I was sitting at my computer today and started thinking about Life in General. What does it all mean and why do things happen the way they do? Then to my delight I watched Nemisis Game from My Netflicks and it was about the very things I have been thinking about. So how about a little fun! :D Answer the Riddle and lets keep them coming. If you have a good riddle to share please do. I just feel like getting deep and try to figure things out.

Sit all alone, alone with me -

When you reach out your hand,
You never leave your home and yet
Make friends throughout the land.

What am I?

My first thought was a ride on a roller coaster. A dizzying ride where you get flung out over space, and that seems so short but also seems to last an eternity. My second thought was love and parenthood! That's a lot like a ride on a roller coaster.

Just, you need a life. We'll settle for another riddle, though.:p

Coolwater
I am a box that holds keys without locks, but they can unlock your soul. What am I?
box that has keys, but no locks, strings that are never knotted, can unlock your soul. Music has always unlocked my soul and the only thing that has keys in a box I can think of is a piano or an organ.

Here's one: What comes once in a minute, twice in a moment, but never in a thousand years?

JustBecause

Yes that would make me cross the road for sure! More like run across the road.

Me too! At least I would try. With my luck, I'd probably trip over my feet, fall flat on my face, and break my glasses. :)

Well as long as I'm making this up, I'd get up and break my ankle in a pothole I didn't see. Then I would end up in the hospital and Adrian would visit because it would be all his fault!! ;)

May as well dream big...:D

...and back to the riddle - yes, it's a piano.

Here's one: What comes once in a minute, twice in a moment, but never in a thousand years?

'm'!

Coolwater
10-28-2008, 07:17 PM

Heh! Good one! :D The answer I was thinking of was that the chicken wanted to see a man lay bricks.

Littledevil

Littledevil
11-15-2008, 02:28 PM
Yes it is Kate, but she wasn't killed by Jacob Kell in End Game. He spared her and you see her at the end of the movie. The reason you know she is dead later is because there is only a mention of her in The Source. No details are revealed how she died and by who. We also don't know if Amanda was ever killed either. The Source leaves out a lot of info that the Series gave you. I could go with one more Highlander film with Adrian Paul in it. at least to tie up what happens next. Rather that than a remake of the first Highlander.

cowlover81
11-16-2008, 02:31 AM
Hello all, I dont have a riddle but a comment. Does anyone remember early on like season 2, I believe, that palm reader that told Duncan that his palm shows that he never marries? It was the episode where tess dies. Anways, that has always bugged me because he does get married like you said in Endgame. Do you all remember and does it bug you too ?
Supposedly their bringing in the old director or something from Highlander 2 to do the remake which kinda sucks since well Highlander 2....well not that great. At least in my opinion.

Coolwater
11-16-2008, 05:04 AM
LD, there were two endings to Endgame, depending on which version you bought, one in which she is killed at the Last Supper scene, and one where Kell spares her. (Silly me, I've got them both.) The scene in which Kell drops her necklace on Duncan is modified, and the scene at the end in the mall, either happens or it doesn't.

cowlover, the conflict between the marriage to Kate in Endgame and the gypsy's prophecy in the series bothers a lot of folks. Personally, I've never met an accurate fortune teller so that the one Duncan and Tessa met would be wrong, doesn't bother me, but other folks rationalized it by saying that Kate and Duncan never had a marriage, merely a wedding night.

We sort of decided over on APUK that the difference between an AP fan and a Highlander fan will show up when Duncan is no longer in the story. Will you go see an HL movie with no Duncan in it?

Littledevil
11-16-2008, 05:16 AM
Didn't realize there were two different versions. Anyway, one way to think of it is the gypsey that tells Duncan that he will never marry may have been before he met Kate. Which means with that knowledge Duncan tried to get married to prove the prophecy or destiny wrong. Even when you know what your future may be one minute the choices we make can change the outcome and we end up somewhere else. Nothing is ever set in stone. Think about what could have been if Hitler hadn't come to power in Germany. Small moments can make dramatic differences in our lives. Think about the people who missed their flights on 9/11, those flights that were hijacked. Or the ones who were late to work that morning. Nothing should ever be taken for granted even the small moments because things change.

Coolwater
11-16-2008, 08:17 PM
Yeah, my husband is addicted to World War II on the History Channel, and he marvels that there were so many points when one small change could have reversed the outcome of the war.

Wasn't the prophecy made at the beginning of the ep in which Duncan proposes to Tessa, and she ends up killed before he can marry her? That means that using Duncan's timeline, the marriage to Kate took place in the 1700s, right? and the prophecy of no marriage was in the 1990s. That would make the prophecy wrong from the moment it was made.

What I think really happened is that the author of the script was giving us some foreshadowing, and then the author of Endgame either didn't know about the prophecy or didn't care, and married Duncan off - in the past. (Tsk! Time travel is so messy!)

I'll check with Darth Sinister and elle~nora' to be sure.

Coolwater
11-17-2008, 02:06 AM
Darth Sinister says that, "Yes. (The gypsy's prophecy) was first mentioned in "The Darkness", season two," in which Duncan proposes to Tessa, and Tessa is killed.

Akashary
11-17-2008, 04:01 PM

Coolwater
11-17-2008, 04:49 PM
Darth, as in Darth Vader. Darth Sinister and elle~nora are members over on highlander-community.com, and they are Highlander scholars. They are the folks to go to for questions about Highlander "canon," that is, how the stories went.

Coolwater

Littledevil
11-17-2008, 05:32 PM
Yes but what year was the flash back in that told Duncan he would never marry. Then in what year did Kate and Duncan meet and marry. That will tell us for sure.

Coolwater
11-17-2008, 07:52 PM
Was it a flashback? Hm, I'll ask.

Coolwater
11-17-2008, 07:54 PM
Oh, but even so, the problem is not Duncan's timeline so much as it is when the writers wrote, and if the second writer was aware of the first writer's prophecy. The writer that wrote the gypsy's prophecy for the series did so years before the second one wrote about marrying Kate for Endgame.

Darth, as in Darth Vader. Darth Sinister and elle~nora are members over on highlander-community.com, and they are Highlander scholars. They are the folks to go to for questions about Highlander "canon," that is, how the stories went.

Thanks for the information coolwater. Good to know!!:D

You're welcome. Sin says, "Duncan married Kate in 1712. He met Carmen and was involved with her in 1848."

So there is the marriage to Kate, another century before the gypsy's prophecy (obviously wrong from the start, then), and another century before losing Tessa.

Thank you. That clears up that little problem. Well if we want to get technical about it. I don't think you can count it a marriage since it didn't last even 24 hours. She ran off after discovering she was immortal because Duncan stabbed her. Think about getting Married in Vegas when your drunk to a guy you just met. I don't consider that a marriage. Either way it still works.

I have to agree with you, Littledevil. After all, when one is immortal how many hundreds of years does one wait before one is considered abandoned, divorced, or widowed???

Besides, if they married until Death did them part, Duncan's killing Kate must have met the conditions of ending things! :D

:( I'm not really very good at riddles.
But here's my take on the marriages of Duncan.
I don't think the person or people caught that epi where Duncan had his fortune told...but in the event they did....
A fortune teller generally only sees things that will occur in their own lifetime. (hypothetically of course). So that might have been a factor...As well the fact that Duncan had tried to communicate with Kate throughout the years...Maybe there was some type of divorce court for immortals.:D
And maybe since Duncan seemed determined to always defy fate then maybe...just maybe he did! Or the fact that he was "THE ONE!" and the strange occurances of the solar system...he was allowed to change it that way.
I would have liked to have seen a couple more Highlander movies properly done that would tie up loose ends. But it looks like that won't happen.
:( It's pretty sad though...cause I still believe that with the right amount of financing and the right writers and producers.... using the timeline set in place by the series...a great movie could come from this. Guess we'll never know.
But I think that is part of the allure of Highlander.....THOSE "WHAT IF's".

Very true Coco. As for the What If's we will probably never know. I wish they weren't going to do a remake of the first Highlander. I think it i great just the way it is. They should have continued with the trilogy they started with the Source. I think if they would do that it would give them the opportunity to give the fans what they deserve and Adrian as well.

 I never liked the first Highlander movies LD. I was disappointed too that they were using their resources to remake Highlander 1. But if they take it in a different direction then it might be viewer worthy. I have seen Iron Man and some of the other stuff the company has made and I thought they were great. But I still would have much rather seen the completion of the trilogy with that sort of talent and funding.:)

If we're going to do a remake, let's remake the Source from scratch.

New Riddle: Two fathers and two sons went duck hunting. Each shot a duck but they shot only three ducks in all. How come?

Ha! One father is the father of the other father - oh, sure that made lots of sense! The two fathers are father and son, so the ducks were shot by the grandfather, the father, and the son.

Makes me think of a corn on the toe.

Sorry, I'm sure it's easy but after a month?
I'm going to put that one on a back burner and post another one.

You can keep it only after giving it away. What is it?

About the groans,
It's so not easy, that after all this time, I can't remember the answer. It was a word with an I in it that meant something painful both with and without the I. It's like if you're down in Mexico, If I am removed from the ruins, it's the runs. Happens a lot there, I hear, but the original was better than that. I'll put it on the back burner, too, til it comes to me. sigghhhhhh...
