Hey don't worry about your English. We Americans can't speak it either. Sorry about your illness. It looks like you don't let it get you down. Just continue to log on here and you will have the time of your lives. Or you might want to disown us. Which ever comes first.:D

:DHi Angel 76600!! Welcome!!
Don't worry about your English. I don't speak any French but we'll figure it out together!! ;)
Sorry to hear you have fibromyalgia. I have an older sister who suffers from it and I myself have Multiple Sclerosis. We can keep each other laughing so it won't hurt quite as much.
I have heard rumors that Highlander World Wide is planning on having a convention in France in a couple of years from now. But I don't know this for sure and I don't know if Adrian will be there. But I will keep my fingers crossed and say a prayer that this happens so that you might be able to meet him.

Peut-être cette conversation pourrait être conduite en français? Nous qui parlent seulement anglais devrons employer Babelfish!
:confused::D
coolwater...I don't know what you said...I received a big fat F in french....all 3 years. My husband is spanish and he's still perturbed that I have'nt learned, he keeps saying if I really wanted to know I'd figure it out, I wanted to send his parents a card and letter and asked him to translate it...he said nope....I suppose my in-laws have the best daughter in-law ever...we can't communicate so they'll never know if they like me or not...:o:)

Zut alors, ma ami! J'eune parl'pas Frances aussi, ma l'petit ici!
Which is butchery for, "Heavens to Betsy, my friend, I don't speak French also, but the little bit here." And that is why we have Babelfish and the other free translators! ;) What I said before was intended to say, "Perhaps this conversation should continue in French. We who do not speak French will have to use Babelfish."
How to use a translator to send a nice note to your in-laws:
Write what you want to say in very simple English.
Find a translator by googling "free Spanish translation." (Babelfish is just one example.)
Pick a translator, and put your English sentences into the translation field a few at a time.
You need to select translate from English and translate to Spanish and click submit.
The program will give you the sentences back in Spanish. Do that until you've translated all your sentences.
Since you are sending the sentences to your in-laws you may want to check the quality of the translation! You can do that by submitting your Spanish sentences on another translation site, and asking that they be translated into English (Pretty tricky, eh?) If the result doesn't make sense, then you may need to make your original English sentences even simpler, and try again.
And you may want to go ahead and take a Spanish-for-fun class. Learning things is SOOOOO much more fun when you don't have to worry about grades! But see, maybe someday your husband will teach your babies Spanish, and you don't want to be left out, do you?
Spanish is much easier than French because the spelling is so consistent, and there are fewer irregular verbs than in French. The best part about not speaking French is that most non-French people are pleased that you're trying to speak their language, and will help you along, and not make too much fun of you.
You could be like Turk on Scrubs and learn Spanish as a surprise gift for your husband!
As soon as our daughter finishes her language requirement at school, we've decided to take Italian, because we are Italian Americans. People see our names and expect us to understand them when they speak Italian. Del giorno che potrò leggere questa frase! (Some day I will be able to read this sentence!) :D

the border of language is unfortunately high:(, I like to practice English and Spanish as a second nature, I who has Spanish origin Scottish, I would not use the formidable creator of translator:p
but life is made as well, now that I learn more and that's not win:mad:
(which I not kill you, makes you stronger)

When I can speak as much Italian as you can speak English, I will not use the translator either. :) If you use the translator, you are not practicing.
I found a big Italian dictionary at the used bookshop today. I was pleased until I got home and realized that I will have to learn all those words!
Angel I tried using Babelfish to do some translating. No Luck. I found that when I typed what I wanted to say then asked it to be translated for me..things looked fine. But then when I went back and asked it to translate back into English...it was all wrong and did not say what I had wanted to say.
:( Gosh I probably just confused you.
I think it works better if you translate it a word at a time instead of by phrases. I know it takes longer but it is more accurate.;)
A dictionary like Coolwater spoke of is helpful too.;)

You're right, those programs aren't as good as human translators. I think the translation programs are helpful, though. I translated an entire long letter from a Dutch friend's new husband into English, and got most of it. I had a really hard time with the word that means packing cases, (the boxes you pack your things in when you move to a new house), until Piet said that when they found their glasses in one, they used the case as a table and poured champaign! Then I understood!

:D Risha, who is Russian, over on the HLbb used the translators to tell a joke about a cowboy who went riding back and forth at breakneck speed. Another cowboy asked, "Why does he do that?" The joke was that, "He does it because he can."
We didn't see the humor at all. We thought it must be that the translator was doing a bad job, but my husband, who studied Russian, said that the joke was political: the cowboy rode very fast because it was something he could do without getting arrested!
Here's a Polish joke: Let's have a toast to the Russian Navy - bottoms up!
