Greetings
Didn't know where else to put this, so here it is.
You may recall I won Phone Call #2 from the auction, and I said I'd post once we talked. Finally got the call today. I think I was the last one. I believe Adrian tried to reach me on 12/22 based on my emails with Nancye, and the missed call on my phone. The perils of an anemic ringer! :p
He rang me at 12:14 PM today. We talked for about 15 minutes. I was on my walk and had to duck into a doorway to hear him. He's overseas in Europe. He mentioned heavy snow and temps in the double digits below zero, although he didn't know if that was wind chill or the thermometer reading. Chicago just got walloped with snow, and we have artic temps in the offing. I offered some of our snow, he politely declined, said he has plenty.
Asked who I worked for and said "God bless you" when I told him. I worked for the IRS and told him most folks aren't that nice when I tell them. We talked a bit about technology and its drawbacks, especially with identity theft. He asked if it was a big problem for the IRS, and I told him what we are seeing and doing about it.
He asked me about hobbies and I told him that aside from writing and walking I would like to start riding again. We both like horses and chatted a bit about that. He was not familiar with the phrase - the back of a horse is good for the insides of a man. That's an old cowboy phrase. I checked Google but couldn't come up with a link to share.
I heard little yappers barking it up in the background, nothing sounding like a Rottweiler. I would love to know who rules the roost, the Rottie or the little yappers. I have cats and we talked about our 4 legged children and how much work they can be.
I suppose I have left out some detail or another but no matter. It was fun, and I am glad I got the opportunity to chat.
Thanks Adrian, and thank you Nancye too!!

Hi all,
Movieola, you were not the last one to receive their phone call from Adrian. He called me shortly after 1 pm today. Interestingly enough, I'm also in Illinois, but a bit south of you, in Bloomington.
Adrian mentioned it was -16 degrees where he was, which I'm assuming was Hungary. I had to ask if that was Celcius or Fahrenheit, and he said Celcius. We took a moment to try to figure out what it would be in Fahrenheit, and he approximated 10. Just now I found a conversion website and that is 3.2 degrees Fahrenheit, so it was quite cold there. I told him it was in the 20's where I was and that it had snowed today and freezing rain the day before, leaving roads slick.
We talked about how the holidays were for each of us. He said he'd been skiing for 4 days, but recently had been working long hours almost every day. I asked him on what, and he said several things, but still in the planning stages.
I mentioned we'd seen the pictures posted on David Merlini's blog of him at that dog shelter. He said the dogs are not kept in kennels there, but are free to roam the grounds, and at the time there were 120 some dogs there.
Having heard about where his dogs' names came from, what they meant, I asked who had named them. He briefly went over the meanings for Budino - an Italian dessert, and Turo Rudi -- a treat popular in Hungary composed of a cottage cheese like center covered with a thin layer of chocolate. I told him there was a theme there. He chuckled and said, "It's no secret I like chocolate."
He asked if I was planning to be at the next convention and I said yes, and then I asked him if he would be there, too, and he said yes, but then asked me when and where it was. :) Seems he doesn't live for those like I do, which is quite all right. And yes, I was able to tell him that it was toward the end of April in L.A. at the Westin. :D We closed with saying we'd see each other there.
I'm sure I've left out a bunch of things, but those are the highlights. Even though I was nervous, it was a very pleasant and enjoyable conversation... from my end, anyway.

I am thrilled for both of you. Though I have never met any celebrity actors/actresses, I have met plenty of celeb athletes, musicians, and singers. What you guys got to experience is something 95% of people can only dream of. Those of us that have been able to have these type of experiences in our lives should take heart in how truly blessed and honored that we are to have them.

Thanks very much for sharing your moments with Adrian with the rest of us ladies. :) It must be nice for Adrian to go skiing now as I remember he once mentioned that he liked it but that he couldn't go skiing while he was contracted to Highlander because they didn't want him getting injured! Wonder where he was skiing? Maybe in Italy or Switzerland! Some exotic destination anyway no doubt. Hopefully we will see some pictures from his trip. :) Here's a picture I saved from somewhere of him during another ski trip, probably several years ago.

:D Thanks for the invite DFQ! I'll be there as soon as I go by the Mobile Home sales lot! I need to swipe one of those yellow tapes that says "Wide Load" to put on my backside. That way if I injure any wildlife while sliding down hill I can't be sued!!

OK, all the Midwesterners, in unison: "You can have some of ours, Sam!"
Actually, you can't, at least not until tomorrow afternoon. We're hoping for a day off from school tomorrow. It's sure to happen, too: I just finished shoveling the drive, and Pina did the walks.
Anyone here have an Ullar statue we can turn upside down, just to make double certain? :D

One person I would like to see go down the slopes is my hubby. I really need a good laugh! I don't think he has ever been skiing a day in his life, but says he can.
If you are thinking I am evil with my last comment you are correct. Hubby thinks he knows everything and can do everything, then he proves himself wrong.:p He once told me he could ride a horse. I took him horse back riding for Valentines day and realized quickly he really couldn't ride. When we got to an open area, I told him to hold his horse back so I could run mine. When I came to a stop, he flew past me on his horse full gallop bouncing all over the place. It was pure dumb luck he didn't fall off, though he just about did when I caught him.
