View Full Version : Where/How did you get your Username?

scooby
05-26-2007, 09:54 PM
My username came from a nick-name I've had since Scooby-Doo was first shown here in the UK, It started out as Scooby-sue obviously cos it rhymes with Scooby-Doo (but I do like to snack as well LOL) then got shortened to Scooby or even Scoobs.

How did you get yours?

Aniviel
05-26-2007, 10:31 PM
It's my real name in Elvish

but in my defense I love Tolkien before the LOTR movies came out so I get to be a geek.
It's on my license plate and I have a tattoo on the small of my neck written in Tengwar. Ok now you can make fun.:p

MagicPrincess
05-27-2007, 08:46 PM
that's realy cool aniviel :) mine is just cause I had to think of something and people always call me princess leah (I hate star wars because of it LOL) so that's what I came up with. I've had it for years, haven't changed it just made variations on it, easier to remember. Hmmm....what an uninteresting origin. LOL

Fun thread!

Guess what, like TinaMarie and Dian, my username is my real name! I haven't chosen it, my mom did!! I was named after one of her uncle which she liked alot!! Gee, I'm lucky his name was not Alfred! :D His name was Guy, and I turned out into a Guylaine! Not very sexy! It's a French name of course, since I'm a French Canadian. English speaking people usually pronounce it as if it would be Gillian, I don't mind. My sisters used to call me Gilligan when we were kids! :D I do have a little something from him, I'm clumsy.

Hi all, I've been away for a long time so you may not remember me anymore. I used to hang out on the Hidef board a long time ago. Since then I have changed my user name slightly- Tiny is my actual name and the Duck is the nickname of my favorite type of car, the citroen 2cv of which I owned a blue one which died two years ago during a holiday in France.

:DLOL. Pepe. That was the case here. (Hubby still wants to know when he's gonna be right. I tell him if it hasn't happened after all these years then it probably never will but not to ever give up hope.) So he and the kids bought me a keychain that says : "I may not always be right but I am NEVER wrong" and a T-shirt that says "51% Sweetheart, 49% B___h so don't push it.":rolleyes:But I'm sure they must have mistaken me for someone else.

Tiny!
I remember that car of yours. I always wanted to drive a little in it, but never propped up the nerve to ask you. Also the gears are in the front and it does not have a servo wheel (servostuur). I loved your stories about the car at the side of the road, giving him food & water. :D

And - I don't know if you still remember - but in Leiden we saw a Citro?n DS (the one Duncan had in Paris) with a license plate number that started with DM. I hated myself for not having my camera with me!

If it all works out, we'll see each other soon. ;)

08-10-2007, 06:06 PM
Well, this is my first post on the boards! I'm usually a lurker, but this is an interesting thread. My username comes from the fact I love Phantom of the Opera and the phan part comes from just replacing the F in fan to a ph. The 114 is for my birthday, January 14th. I've used phantom in just about all my email and usernames. Of course such a user name makes people wonder if I'm male of female. For the record, I'm female! :)

08-10-2007, 06:20 PM
Hi Phantom and welcome to the group.
I love all these immaginative usernames people come up with.
Mine is really boring in comparison. I'm known on all the AP/ Highlander boards as Stephy. Real name is of course Stephanie, but only my mother calls me that. LOL
Many years ago I had a wonderful Irish friend who started calling me Stephy in the most beautiful southern Irish brogue. It kind of stuck and I rather like it.

My user name is Barney from you guessed it, Barney the purple dinosaur. I love the color purple and am known to where it quite often. It was my fiancee who started calling me that, which used to annoy me to no end at the time but I lost him a few years back to a drunk driver and now everytime I sign on as Barney it reminds me of him and makes me smile.

My name is Elizabeth, but friends always called me Liz or Lizzy. I have been told by numerous people I have an Evil look when I am angry or up to something. It progressed to Lizzyfur, then to lucify, to lucifer, and then a kind friend decided Littledevil was more appropriate and it stuck from there. I have to admit I am a prankster and do like the dark side a bit, but who doesn't like to be bad every once in a while!;)

Dragon_Farm_Queen
12-20-2008, 05:23 AM
Mine is a name that have given folks the need to raise an eyebrow until I explain how I came to be the Dragon Farm queen. I grew up on the outskirts of the music industry mainly on celtic, gospel, R&B, Pop, Country, and Classic Rock music and about 5 yrs ago I got deeper in the industry as an online promoter. This gave me the experience of seeing some of Nashville's great up and coming artists at any given time in any given genre. One night in 2007 I was at a venue and saw this white guy about my age rapping but the music instruments backing him were unlike anything I'd ever witnessed in my life. Here was this very urban rap/hip hop looking person with musicians that played harmonica, screaming rock guitars, and this kid also had a turntable on the stage with a DJ scratching the records. I was instantly hooked and it started a close friendship that lasted for 3 yrs.

Shortly after meeting this kid I learned he was part of a hiphop group called The Dragon Farm which was more than just a music group. It was a cliq. I later would go on to become friends with all the Kings of the Dragon Farm and learned of the hierarchy that is in this band of brothers and started wanting to bring attention to this cliq. After a couple of years of supporting these guys I became known for my appearances at their shows. The fans and music industry people started coming to me asking if I was one of their girlfriends, wives, agent, and so on. Well I had not really taken inventory of how to define my relationship with these guys because it never occurred to me that I needed to, but with pressure of constantly being asked Who are you? The guys made the most interesting announcment that to this day in the hiphop world of Nashville still gets talked about, They announced I am the Dragon Farm queen.

Now the reason that still gets talked about is because anyone in the underground hiphop world knows that in cliqs like the Dragon Farm you don't get in unless you go through intiation, yet I was given my title without ever being intiated. These guys felt so strongly about my relationship with them that they were willing to face the heat of their peers and the questions and snide remarks when they made that announcement.

These days those guys have gone their separate ways even living in separate states and I still keep in touch with some of them and yet there are some that the frienships have parted for various disappointing reasons but they have all said in recent talks that I've had with them that they still felt like the best part of the whole thing was me being there every night to suppor their careers in music when no one else would.

I love this scene when Duncan came out of the house having scared to death the woman he wanted to help and said:"Brilliant!MacLeod" to himself.:D
Not very creative,I know.

My name was easy to come up with- I am a 1 Lt. (Capt. soon I hope) In the U.S. Air Force Auxilary, otherwise known as the Civil Air Patrol, and thanks to the Scottish Heritage on my mother's side I am a true to life Macleod (the other half of me is Italian).
My ancestors were one of the founding families of the town of Laurinburg, which is the county seat of Scotland county, North Carolina. Laurinburg is also the sister city to Oban, Scotland (Macleod country). I even attended and worked for a short time at St. Andrew's College in Laurinburg- the American version of the self-same St. Andrew's in Oban- attended by the Princes of England
Now I sit at the computer eating cheetos, drinking coffee and writing Romance stories set in Ancient Britian and Ireland- (and other parts of the world.)with an occassional pop in at Adrian's place.

(grinning) But I'm serious, Wisdom! The very first time I got onto highlander-community.com, I was very anxious. I'd never posted on a website, and my plan was to find the episode synopses, if there were any, and get out. A member called Darth Paul was posting some very funny insults about the Dr. Anne character, and then made the mistake of hassling the feminine members about equal rights. Ooh, they beat him up! I couldn't help myself, it was so funny that I had to keep reading, and I had to post a comment! I registered as Coolwater, because I was thirsty and a glass of cold water was the next thing I planned to do after logging out. I figured that it didn't matter what I called myself, as I wasn't going to come back, right? Well, ha ha, that was five years ago.

Lt. Mac, we're looking forward to calling you Captain Mac! Got to tell you though, my husband and I are Italian Americans, and while I've got Scottish blood on my mother's side, he has none. He got interested in Scottish history after going there on business, however, and I've been teasing him ever since about the famous MacGraziano clan.:D

10-25-2009, 01:15 PM
By stumbling across this thread, I thought, we could re-awaken it.
Reading my username, one could think, it is because of MacLeod and Adrian. not at all! But ... Well, I was always very prophetic:D
My name BlackCloud is a very old name of mine: it goes back to my schooldays, when my girlfriend and I have written letters during our lessons. She was Blue Star and - yes, I was Black Cloud! Thank god, our teachers didn't ever get one of our letters, they would have been surprised/shocked, WHAT those little Teenies had to write about their desires and ...

And when I registered on this Board, the first name, that came into my mind, was BlackCloud. When I had written it and spoke it out loudely, I laughed, because it sounded like - yes, you are right - and it fits, doesn't it?

Carmel

I still use 'tunnack' as lot and it comes from when my husband and I dropped out in the mid 90's and tucked a child under each arm and moved to a beautiful little town in Tasmania called...you guessed it...Tunnack! We stayed two years but it remains as one of the most wonderful experiences of all of our lives. Since it was 1995 it was also when I really got into Highlander and helped Sonja Van Den Ende run our very first Highlander DownUnder convention in 1997. Since my husband and I were running a business from home I had a lot of extra time to learn about computers, web pages etc....and can still remember racing off to the Post Box in the middle of what constituted the "town" to see if my friend Rachel in the US had managed to copy the latest HIghlander episodes and send them to me. I would then race back home and my husband and I would sit back, open a bottle of red and watch the latest episode...so 'tunnack' will always be associated with that time for me...and Highlander...
love
Carmel

luckyD
10-26-2009, 09:04 PM
Hi all:

I named myself luckyD due to the fact when I worked construction as a carpenter, we all had to put a name on our jackets. My middle name begins with an "L" and I read a book years ago about an Italian girl whose name was "Lucky". I really enjoyed this book, but I cannot remember the name of it. So my nickname to my construction buddies was "Lucky". My first name begins with D. So I combined the two.
