Well it may not be the perfect spot to write this, but when you need to vent there is not always the perfect spot to do it :)

Right at this moment my home town and surrounds in Victoria(Australia) are in a world of hurt. We have a major Bush Fire that has ripped through the area killing over 100 people so far and still many unaccounted for, over 800 houses destroyed and climbing. We are lucky, so far we have heard that all our family and friends are safe. No one Australia wide who has family or friends in this area will be fully relaxed l would think until this is over and everyone in the area is accounted for, as there are still so many missing.

My friends and relatives that where evactuated have been allowed to return to their homes, the great thing about this is that they still have homes to return to as many do not. Some friends have lost property, but l must say by the grace of god where everything else burned, sheds etc, the houses survived.

With many areas still no go zones for safety reasons, there are many people trying to reach their homes to find out what has happened to their loved ones, all we can do is hope that some of these people have a happy ending.

The worse part of all this is that the fire was most likely lit by some little low life "Fire Bug" who does not care for the life of others. If they ever catch the people that light these fires l personally think they should ask the people that have lost loved ones what justice should be dealt to them.

All l wish for at this stage is that my family and friends(and everyone else back home)stay safe and they get this fire under control sometime soon. The recovery process is going to be a long road, but it is something that can not fully start until the fires have gone.

Well it does feel better to have been able to get some of this out. Thank you to those that have read my rambles to the end.

This is so tragic Victoria. I will keep positive thoughts for the continued safety of your family and friends and for all the people who are affected by these fires. I hope the person or persons responsible are caught and pay for this horrendous crime. That won't bring back the victims unfortunately or restore the damage caused but they deserve severe punishment for this.

This is terrible news Victoria! I hope and pray everyone close to you is safe and the people in the fire's path to be safe. I haven't heard about this on the news yet.
In Southern California, we have seem many large fires and seen some of the devastation. Please, please be safe. Houses and things can be replaced, people cannot.
I send you some of our rain to you. I hope it cools down and the fires stop.

Victoria, I am so sorry to hear this. I will pray that the fires are brought under control with no further loss to life. As EvanStar said, homes and things can be replaced, but people can't. Be safe and stay strong.

Victoria, I'm so sorry that your family and friends were affected by this tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with you and them.

Natural disasters are bad enough. Those - like this one - that are caused by people are difficult to get my head around. What were they thinking? They now have the deaths of more than 100 people on their hands. Fathers, mothers, children, friends of those that are lost now have to deal with the consequences of their thoughtless and/or selfish actions. This was so unnecessary.

Vic--its so wonderful to hear that you and yours are safe. I have been keeping up to date via the news and the damage and loss of life are very saddening.
As we are in a drought area, we must also be very careful with everything we do.

May God bless and keep you and our prayers go out to all our friends down under.

I just saw the news as well. It looks really bad. No end in sight. My prayers are with the families and have lost everything even the lives of loved ones. It breaks my heart to see the footage of the burned out cars when people tried to fell and the flames overtook them and all were lost.
Whole neighborhoods now gone. It's far worse than what we had in California a year ago. Most of them were mountain areas with little loss of life.

I'm sorry...

Thank you everyone for your kind words and thoughts during this horrible time. The fire is still raging and not under control as it threatens more small towns where family live. I am lucky as l live in another state as this time and far away from the devastation, but this can also make it hard when you can not be there to help or comfort friends and family going through this.

Our firefighters are doing such a marvelous job, they have saved so many homes and lives. Some fire fighters have lost there homes as while they where away helping to save others there was no there to save there's. This tragedy would be so much worst without the courage of our volunteers working tirelessly to help in so many areas, not just fighting the fires.

Stay safe everyone.

:( Victoria I'm sorry to hear about the tragic fires. I hope and pray for your family and friends as well as your fellow countrymen.
I am glad to hear that they have been able to arrest someone who they believe set at least one of those fires. I hope those who set the blazes will be punished for their murderous acts.
