The world loves that little bit of goodness called processed sugar which is used in many different types of food, but is processed sugar really good for you or can it be toxic? Processed sugar is the leading cause of hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, diabetes mellitus, diabetes sipidus, and obesity. A combination of caffine as well as processed sugar can cause nasty painful gastric ulcers which can take up to a year to heal. Growing up as a kid, I had consumed sugary treats as all kids do with no ill effects of any kind.
Even as an adult, I would sucumb to a sugary treat every once in a while with no ill effects until, I was about thirty nine years old. At thirty nine years of age, I had suffered what I didn't know at the time was my first hypo-glycemic attack after having consumed a sugary treat. Shortly after this attack, I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with hypoglycemia. I changed my diet and for the most part cut out all processed sugar. Every now and then, I would fall off the wagon and have a sugary treat.
Recently, I fell off the wagon again and had another sugary treat. Three days ago, my aunt had just made a batch of her delicious white chip crispy cookies and I just couldn't resist the delicious treat. Three hours after my cookie and chai tea break, I became violently ill and began suffering a variety of symptoms, which included; running a low grade fever, praying to the loo god and sleeping for two days straight. During this incident, the thought or smell of food made my stomach roll and the only thing that I could keep down for two days straight was water and a half of bowl of chicken broth. Every tendon and joint in my body felt like I had been run over by a truck and it felt like I was in a fog as if I was a zombie.
I have recovered from this recent incident and I have decided that processed sugar isn't a little bit of goodness after all, but toxic and in the future I will be avoiding it.
