If you go over to APFC you will be able to read exactly what Adrian said in his answer to one of the Ask Adrian questions.

Anyhow here is what he said

Yes, I know of A Song of Fire and, in fact, it is a project at HBO called “Game of Thrones” that is about to start casting. I think it is a really interesting project and I have read the first script. We are waiting to see where the casting process goes, since, yes, it would be fun to be a part of this.

I originally posted about this here way back in Oct 2007. http://www.adrianpaul.net/forum/showthread.php?t=346
I have been so excited about this show, because I like these books. And I think a number of actors from Highlander could do a great job in it. I have posted anywhere I can find about this project and mention our fav immortals as actors who could add great bennifit. It's so exciting to see Adrian express a real interest in it. Can't wait to see what happens!

Well if Adrian does get a lead role in this prodject. I will have to subcribe to HBO. I can't miss it then. I need to make the switch anyway. There is never anything on Showtime.

Thanks for the link L Shell. It sounds interesting. I hope Adrian lands a part in it. :) He has already done the story narration for the George R. R. Martin Dreamsongs Audio book. It would be cool if he was in this too. :)

The story is in a fictional land that, over 1000 years ago, had magical creatures and such. Those days are gone and now there are just humans with human problems. The days of magic are hardly even believed anymore, being so long ago. The main land has it's different regions all united under one King. The story of that unification is allot like flashbacks in the book, building the characters back story. Back in the present, things are not as good as they once were, and all the politics of keeping theses regions united are full of intrigue and deceptions. I would say to think of the HBO series Rome, they have allot of similar themes, though overall very different stories. Meanwhile, on another continent, thought of by the main land as "barbaric", certain things from long ago may be re imerging. A fallen Royal Family is struggling to retake what was taken from them, and it is a hard, but exciting road. Up North, beyond the "Wall" ( an icey no man's land where centuries ago, many of the evil magical creatues lived, though long ago dissapeared) many strange, unthinkable things are rumored to be happening. One of our main characters is there and we witness them through him.

And it goes from there. It is a rough story, and for the first 4 chapters, I was calling the friend who suggested it to me and asking why did he send me this book? Nothing is happening! But then, from the fourth chapter of book one, I could not put them down. I have read books 1, 2, and 3 four times each.

A warning though. There are MANY characters, which at first was another reason for my dislike. How will I keep up with so many people, or care about them enought to want to? But, well, let me just say, the writer makes it...easy to do so.

It is a brutal and sometimes vulgar story, with much violence and sex. The vocabulary is also adult to say the least. If any of you are familiar with Rome or Deadwood, those two have very similar sex and violence, and vocabulary. It is definately an adult read. Each chapter is named for the character that chapter is focused on. There is a fourth book, but I don't like the choice the author made in distributing it, but that is just me.

Hope you can take the time and read it, unless these themes aren't your cup of tea, I think you will enjoy them. I know I did, many times over.

Farris, thanks for the explanation. It sounds intriguing, and I love stories like this, written as a series.
After reading your first paragraph, the first thought that came to mind is - the writer has used Scotland as his inspiration. The Highlanders were considered "barbaric", a fallen family (Stuarts)tried unsuccessfully, twice, to regain the throne, and the different regions (clans) were supposedly united under one King. And there were plenty of myths and legends in the Highlands.
Doesn't this sound like the perfect project for our favorite "Highlander"?
Hope Adrian does get into this. Even so, I'm going to check out the book series myself!

Does anyone know when this might be ready for us viewers waiting patiently? I know they are starting casting, but there must be some type of timeline.

Hello everyone

I am writing this to all of those who share an appreciation for Highlander actor Adrian Paul. He has expressed interest in a project I really hope he gets into. There is a main website of it, where they are asking the opinions of fans, both of the books and of the actors, to express their opinions. The post regarding Adrian Paul's interest has allot of people who like the thought, one way or another, of our guy working in it. There are also a number of people who disagree. Which is fine, everyone has the right to their opinion. A few statements made there though have touched a nerve with me. A number of people are saying Adrian can't act, which of course I disagree with completely. I was hoping that some of his other fans who also disagree would be willing to chime in on Adrian's ability. I am posting a link to the thread. You would have to register with the site to reply. If you can't/won't no problem, but if you can/will, I wanted to make it known so you guys can make your own decision. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Would you post here what character do you see Adrian portraying in Game of Thrones?! He didn't say so I would be interested in hearing who you see him as?!

Yes everyone is entitled to their opinion and that is fine. I will definitly be posting a reply. To say someone as Adrian can't act is absurd. Would you tell and NFL Player they suck at playing football? Obviously not, they obviously can since they get paid millions to play. Besides that, if there is anyone who should not act it would be Brittany Spears. An actor has to use what he/she is given. The quality of the movie or show is not based soley on the actors, it has a lot to do with the script and writing of the story, cgi if any, production, etc. They are many moving parts so to speak with making a film. Brad Pitt is one of the highest paid actors and he has had his fair share of CRAPPY MOIVIES! Interview with a Vampire; really stupid, slightly enjoyable, and that had Tom Cruise, and Antonio Bandderas in it. Not saying that those two in anyway improved that movie either. Based on just watching those you might think he couldn't act. People have said that Drew Barrymore can't act, Nicole Kiddman, Orlando Bloom, Paul Walker, Keanu Reeves, Vin Deisel and that is just to name a few.

Adrian is a good actor and I didn't see a problem or that he did a bad job on any of the movies or TV he has done. Some movies I didn't particularly agree with but it wasn't based on his acting ability. Mostly the script.
