I saw the video of Adrian driving in the La Carrera Panamericana race. It was fun to watch but sad that he didn't get to finish. You could see he was so disappointed. He had some really tough breaks with his Jaguar. I liked listening to Adrian narrating the video, you could tell he was really excited about the opportunity to race a Jag at such high speeds. He could also see that he was exhausted having very little sleep. Exciting but very scary when you see him driving past other cars that have crashed and flipped. He definately loves speed!

Has anyone else seen this video?

It's on a vhs tape I found on Amazon.com. from a private seller. I just stumbled across it by chance. I wasn't looking for it, I didn't even know it existed but then I'm fairly new to the Highlander world. It was put out by Davis/Panzer productions who sponsored Adrian in the race.

I also have it. :) I found it on eBay. Either Amazon or eBay are good places to keep watching for that tape and Adrian's old movies if you do not have them

Oh, man. This is me showing my own stupidity here. I own the blasted DVD set of Season Six of Highlander and I've probably skimmed over the name of that race a hundred times since September. Curiousity never got the better of me so I never popped it into the player. Hey, it's Season Six, what can I say? I own it just to say, well, just to say 'I own it', really. *Shrugs* I don't think I've ever watched the entire thing. To prove even more how much of a nucklehead I am, this is me going over the whole thing a few months back, "Okay, episode, Okay, the demon is starting to get to me now...episode, episode, episode, hm, no sword. *Skims more* Episode, episode, episode...I've always wanted to know what Zen Duncan was like. *Skims more* Episode, Episode, episode, episode...no Duncan...Shocker...But, aren't Methos and Joe adorable?*Skims more* Episode, episode, some Mexican thing, ooooh, favorite Quickenings...I'll watch that..." What's even more hilarious is me actually watching 'Finale Backstage' a few times (I skipped the flashbacks and skimmed Immortal Memories). Yes, some fan I turned out to be, huh? :o

Anyways, thanks Barney. If you hadn't have asked that question I wouldn't have had the strange feeling that I'd heard that name before and checked my DVD's of the series. I'll be watching it momentarily. :D

Barney, yes I've seen it, and it was really cool for me, as My husband is from Morelia, and we vacationed there in July 2003, part of the race cut through Morelia, I watched the race on dvd for the 1st time in August this past year, and I was WOW, we were all over that very country side, and whats even more bizzare, is according to My husband, He remembers that race, and though he did'nt stand on the sidlines, his brother and all their buddies did. Highlander had quite the following in Mexico, it was a big deal to the locals that Adrian/ Highlander was racing. As far as Adrian racing, the only thing that kept me from stressing that He could really get hurt is that it was history, rather then live, good grief, thats an extremly dangerous race/road. I do wish He would of won, but I bet he had a blast. :D

I have this video too. It is really cool to watch Adrian driving that car. I wish he could have at least finished the race. Like you said, he was very disappointed to have left the race early.

I have also watched this video. And, yes, it was thrilling to watch and listen to Adrian's commentary on the race. And like one can really feel his sadness that he did not get to finish the race. I don't think winning was as important to him as just being able to complete the race. And the people certainly did seem to love having him visit their country. That was really nice to see.

I also wondered how he was able to participate. It seems that for some actors insurance companies forbid them participating in certain dangerous activities while they are under contract. Any ideas on this?

I used this tape to test systems when acting as Techie ... and VCR or projector wasn't functioning for an instructor. Using standard generic animal life tape often gained negative audience response  but using this tape -- never had a problem holding audience attention, from nursing students thru EMTs. :D Gained a few additional fans for him as well. I had NO problem sharing additional information while I finished reloading class tape before returning to the library.
