Appart from the obvious contenders, who have you claims on that you've met in person, where and under what circumstances (go on show of a bit).

Soo many music groups it isn't funny. Some it's just the right person in the right place at the right time, but one group in particular I have to say I LOVE and have met alot alot..um alot.

I just met Lori Petty outside Wrigley field 2 weeks ago after she threw out the opening pitch..she's a little, shall we say off.
I met Hal Sparks the comedian. Short but I love him, alot of personality, how he is onstage is how he really is.
I was on a flight with Brad Pitt, but I'm not into him so I didn't bother him, so that doesn't count does it?
I met Roseanne Barr while shopping at FAO Swartz in NYC with her son.

I think that is enough showing off because I have a few more=P

I actually have some good stories when it comes to the music group ones and maybe I will post them later for your definite entertainment and yes they will be censored.

Well, I always thought it was my being the country cat in the tap dancing performance I did in 1st grade....but then I had my son, followed by my daughter and learned that was true fame--and immortality as well.....

Now as for famous people?

In the late 70's I ran into--Jim Neighbors, Dick Van Dyke, David Carradine and Clint Eastwood. I lived for several years in Coronado, California--and I'd run into Dick Van Dyke grocery shopping at Safeway! Saw David Carradine on the Coronado Beach one early morning around 5:30. Jim neighbors and Clint Eastwood at the Hotel Del Coronado one evening.

More recent stuff--When I was living in Bangor, Maine and my hubby was on recruiting duty he had this friend named Steve we use to drink with every once in a while. Even went to Sing's Restaurant in Brewer with him one evening....someone asked him for his autograph --(Which I thought was really rude because we were in the middle of eating) and my hubby asked him what that was about. He told us he wrote books. What type, we asked. He named a few but the only one we knew was Carrie----Yeah--you guessed it--Stephen King. (He isn't as freaky as one might expect after reading his stuff) LOL!

Last and most recent claim to fame: Got to talk to Johnny Depp for 10 minutes on the phone back in January of--what was it 2005? It was during the telafon NBC was having because of the Tsunami that had struck in December. He was answering the phone.....Now I was hoping to talk to Brad Pitt because he was answering phones at the same time--but I got Johnny and he was delightful. Very thoughtful and considerate!

What a guy!

Ziana, believe me--I was so stunned it took me days to remember everything that was said--and yeah, I'd have crawled through that and more to do it all over again!

Johnny Depp bought a house less than a mile from ours last year. Rumour has it that it was because of an interest in sailing in Lymington. Several people I know saw him in a pub near his house last summer and at our local Saturday street market. I wasn't so lucky:(
With Cowes sailing festival on in August I might just find myself frequenting that particular pub that week.;)

It was many years ago when the local Technical College was running dances in the gym hall. A band was booked and the DJ booked let them down so along with my mate Terry and a number of 45rpm's, yeah that long ago, we took on the task of providing the backing music for the band.

You have to remember that Solihull is a "posh" part of Birmingham and when the band struck up they appeared to be a little "heavy" for the locals and of course dancing to heavy music back in the late sixties was a no no. The locals were into into Tamla Mowtown, soul and bubblegum stuff, which of course we provided.

Inevitably the band were booed off and we were left to play the music.

Later that year the band released a single called Paranoid!

Yep we were the support for Black Sabbath!

About 10 years later I was working in a village called Ranton near Stafford installing a commercial kitchen in a pub called The Hand and Cleaver.

Whilst sitting in the bar after a long days work, refreshing myself, in walked Ozzie Osborne along with a daughter. It turned out he had a recording studio not to far away. The evening was spent drinking and i ended up staying at the pub. I don't remember the conversation other than to say it was great fun. At no time did I mention Solihull and the Technical College.

What i do remember is that Ozzie paid for his beer with shells! Don't ask me why. I did however find out he settled his bills in full at the end of the month.

There are more!

:p Great thread VG (wish I'd thought of it - durrrrrrr) :D

Well I posted on the other thread about Stairway to Heaven and passing the pub where Plantie and the rest of Led Zeplin used to "drink" and the Spread Eagle being "Home of Stairway to Heaven".

When you think how many of the old Rock Bands where started in Midlands along with LZ, there was ELO, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, who incidentally Kenny Downing and Bob Halford used to live opposite us and grew up with my Ex Husband who was also in a band and made a few records (but didn't get anywhere) The Ivor Biggen Band, and of course Slade who used to practise at our local youth club in full kit, shaven heads, chino's (with braces) and bovver boots, while everyone else in there were either Hell's Angels or bikers. Don't know whether this is a claim to fame or a horrible secret I should keep to myself but Noddy Holder asked me out, course I wasn't interested and was holding our for Jimmy! Now I get to hear Noddy's dulcet tones everytime I visit our brand new Art Gallery in Walsall, his voice announces what floor your on in the lift (elevator)

During my early married life I attended training courses at Addlestone in Surrey. We were all placed in a hotel run by a retired roady. One of his clients was The Who. The Warren Lodge Hotel, wonder whether it still exists!Nope never met The Who but on one occassion during another evening drinking session who should be sitting in the bar area but Les Dawson (top UK comedian now sadly dead). Now amongst our group was a guy from Newcastle on Tyne, Gary Stamp.
Les was no slouch when it came to drinking and smoking and I remember this being the most entertaining evenings I've ever had in any company.
Les was a brilliant teller of jokes but Gary matched him joke for joke. Now i've laughed since and before but I've never woken up with sore ribs. The jokes flowed all night as did the whisky. To top it all Les agreed to join us for dinner that evening and proceeded to the restaraunt where he confronted the Spanish waiter with the line.

"Ere mate have you got a chair for my mother in law?"
To which the waiter politely showed Les a corner seat.
"Great!" he said, "Now where do I plug it in?"
We all fell about but the waiter started to search for a 13 amp socket.

There's more!

Should I even go here since I am an actor? LOL

Well aside from the obvious Highlander actors and crew like Adrian, Liz, Stan, Richie, Jim and Peter. I've met several celebrities.

Most know I was on the TV show Ghost Whisperer for an episode. So I got to meet the entire cast and crew of that show. Including Jennifer Love Hewitt, David Conrad and Aisha Tyler.

Then last summer I was in another movie. It is called the Final Season. I got to meet most everyone including the stars Sean Astin(Sam in Lord of the Rings) , Powers Boothe(Tombstone), Rachel Leigh Cook(She's All That), Tom Arnold(Lots of things), Larry Miller(Lots of things), James Gammon (Major League) Brett Claywell(One Tree Hill), Michael Angarano(Sky High), and Danielle Savre(Heroes, Bring it On 3).

Then I've met Nigel Bennett and John Kapelos (Who were both at SyndiCon 97 but they were there for Forever Knight.)

I've also met Future Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison of the 2007 Super Bowl Champion Indianapolis Colts.

And a few other different people here and there. Couple Professional Baseball palyers too. All of them were definately an expirience and lots of stories all around.

I'm also hoping to meet a few more really big stars this summer if my plans work out right. Not saying yet on it. Don't want to jinx myself and not. But when it happens you will definately hear me screaming.
But I plan to work with more and more. Then one day maybe a few of you will be saying I met him! LOL Which some can.

I have met Bob Hope & Phyllis Diller when the ambulance company I work for (the first year I worked for them and every year after) covered the Bob Hope Desert Classic golf tournament in Palm Springs, California. And I have met Robert Urich right after his series, Vegas, ended (also in Palm Springs). I have met Dirk Benedict (the original Battlestar Galactica's Starbuck the A-Team's ?Faceman?) at a gas station is Palm Springs, California. And I met Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., Lucille Ball and Don Rickles when my ambulance company covered a special benefit dinner in Rancho Mirage (Palm Springs), California. I also met and befriended Sonny Bono (Sonny & Cher) when he was the mayor of Palm Springs, California. I have also met Sandy Kofax, Tommy Lasorda, Nolan Ryan, Khalil Greene, Jake Peavy and Millie Warwick (the real person Rosie O'Donnel's character in A League of Their Own was based on).

Man!! I have to get out more!! Most of my celebrity brushes were just that brief encounters, all took place in NYC in the 80's. I did not speak to any of them as all but one, they were just doing their thing and I did not want to intrude.

Saw Woody Allen in a park in Greenwich village with a few kids playing, it was before he & Mia split, I spotted Cher doing some shopping in small grocery store also in the village, Richard Gere in the early morning (returning home after a night of revelry in the Big Apple, ahh the 80's were fun) in central park meditating.

And David Letterman yelling out the window of the high rise where his show is taped, they used to do a segment where they did they did that, they may still but I don't stay up that late anymore.

Hmmm...ok...hmmmmm...let me seee...

I met Richard Gere, Bill Pullman and Jodi Foster when they were in my area filming the movie Sommersby.

Also at the resort where I work I had the occasion to see Jerry Reed and Jimmy Dean OH and all The Osmonds when they were here either performing or just relaxing.

Once when I was in Washington state visiting my dad we went to LaConner shopping and I had the occasion to see Burl Ives just sittin on the street talking to folks.

Once while in Nashville visiting a cousin, we had the occasion to meet Johnny Cash while were were at a gas station (he was pumping his own gas) and got his autograph.

OH and I almost forgot.....Bill Clinton was at our resort making a speach and although I didnt get to meet him, I was close to him when he came inside.

I know there might be a few more but I'm old and I've forgotten *L*. It may come to me later.

These that I have met are probably unknown for you, but the history is curious! It was in 1987-88 year. We get together with my best girlfriend, to a train in the night. She liked a lot one bulgarian actor-Irenei Кonstantinov- for her he was Most Most.... everything. She slept, and i smoke in the passageway, when he entered in the train, together with one other bulgarian actor-I do not remember his full name- they termed it the Luck Cascade. The second came out to smoke a cigarette with me,but the prince charming, nonsmoker, murmured from the coupe, that fumigate him.Next it goes out and asks where it can drink coffee-Unthinkable luxury in a train during the socialism :D At that time,I thrashed the most stinking thing of the earth! I ordered him to come in our coupe, awaken my girlfriend and she will decant coffee from our thermos, for him.A woman that sleeps in a train is not most lovely sight of world, and my girlfriend gets angry for long time,That I have left this, he meets her Such.So that- Be ready at each hour! :p

OK. I'll play. I was once an assistant for Maria Von Trapp for a whole weekend. I shook hands with Robert Kennedy the day before he was killed. I went to the wedding of Bill Mazeroski [hit the home run that won the World Series for the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 60's]. I met Pope Paul VI and met and talked with Pope John Paul II about three times. We had a princess from Luxembourg live in our home for a year. I met the King of Belgium. And of course have met Adrian Paul about 5 times now plus most of the other HL related guests.

About 13 years ago, my best friend talked me into going to an event with a bunch of the big teen stars of the time at a local water park. So I met and talked with Brittany Murphy for like 20 minutes. She was really nice and it was just before she got her big break.

Living where I do, you run into Osmonds right and left all the time. The most memorable was when I was working at a movie/music/book store, when Donny Osmond came through my checkout lane. (This was the 1st of 3 encounters with him.) He had 2 of his sons with him. One was on his shoulders eating a cookie, and getting crumbs all over his dad's head. So now everytime I think of Donny Osmond, I see him with his head full of crumbs. About a year later I was coming out of a movie theater with my husband and ran into him again. He was with the same 2 boys and his dad. He remembered me and introduced us to his dad. He has got to be one of the nicest men I have ever met. He always has time for a chat.

Now, in regards to silk nylons that somehow became silk what's-its...the what's-its couldn't have worked too well if there were so many unplanned offspring that occurred overseas, who's Daddies were American or Canadian soldiers. lol. For all I know I might have a great aunt somewhere in Italy or Scotland. And back to silk nylons...the visual appeal of "thigh highs" is to me far greater than panty hose. :D Lt. Mac looking forward to reading your book. Eagerly awaiting details. OK some of you from the good old days know that I met Elvis when I was a child and didn't know what all the hoopla was about at the time. I also met Hank Williams, Sr. and Jr. when I was a child. Sr was a friend of my Dad's and they visited our home. I was allowed to sit on a stool backstage of the Grand Ol' Opry and got to meet Grandpa Jones, Minnie Pearl, Chet Atkins, Johnny Cash and June Carter. I met Christopher Reeve while he was filming "North And South" . I met B.B. King at "Roosters" jazz club in Macon,Ga. I also met Little Richard in Macon at a gas station when I stopped for gas and he drove up in his tour bus to gas up for the first leg of his comeback tour. He invited hubby and me to join him at his first stop and offered backstage passes. As badly as I wanted to go I had to decline because I would have lost my job if I went. I met Eric Rudolf at a convenience store where he was working before he became the person people now know him as. I met Jane Fonda and Ted Turner at my dentist office. Scott Stapp of the rock group Creed used to bring me pizza and hang out where I worked and hubby and I listened to his group practice. Hubby was a bouncer by night at a local nightclub where we became acquainted with the Southern Rock Group "Molly Hatchett". OK that's all I can think of right now. Maybe I will remember some more of them later.

book in printing process- nothing to do now but wait:rolleyes: ---- it will be soon- how about a whistle wetter

As she buried her tear streaked face in her cloak, she heard someone groaning from within the trees behind her. She swiftly rose to her feet, gathered up one of the horses wandering nearby and hurried into the woods. Following the sounds of a man in pain she found him, the one for whom she had been so frantically searching, propped against a tree lingering at the threshold of death?s door.
He lay, barely breathing, in a pool of blood. His lips were blue and his skin was as pale white as snow. Yet, even now in his weakened state she could see his unyielding strength. As she brushed the long black hair from his face, he gazed up at her. His piercing, steel blue eyes begged her to end his pain. She could feel his agony penetrate through to her own soul as she held him close. ?The King is dead, my lord, and the battle over. I?ve come to take you to safety.?
Reaching into the pocket on her simple brown skirt, she pulled out a tiny vial carved from ivory. Uncorking it she lifted his head and placed the bottle to his lips. ?Drink this, my lord. It will help to ease your pain.? She carefully poured the potion into his mouth. He swallowed slowly and then closed his eyes. ?Soon you will forget this day and rest peacefully.?
